I have noticed that Bing's search does bring some extra results - ranking by images, showing thumbnails and whatnot, but really Google is still king of SE's. So I am wondering, with all of these commercials and ads all over the internet - is Bing nothing but a huge brand Microsoft has produced?
Microsoft wants a share of the HUGE ad revenue Google makes from their engine, so they're fighting for it with Bing. It was revamped from their old engine and they spent a lot of money on it, and on advertising. As cool as it is to say "google it", they want people to think "bing it". Reminds me of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GM4Lt5k24s
Google still handles the majority of the search queries and remains the king of the search engines. As far as google is concerned, with the promotional campaigns that Microsoft has produced, Bing looks more like a brand that M$ is promoting.
I'm not sure if it is a brand, but they sure are attempting to brand it. Only way they can compete with Google is getting their name out there all the time.
Of course Bing is a Brand and microsoft have many other brands like windows and ms office ,xbox etc etc and they are all promoted seperatly from one another.
Me too agrees that Bing is another product of Microsoft and not a SE. But most of the people saying that they getting considerable amount of traffic from Bing. Is it so?
Of course... Bing is a brand of Microsoft and it represents their product in SE category! They have spent hell lot of money in its promotion, in order to make this brand highly visible! It is altogether a different matter whether they will be able to dent the market share of the leader and carve out a niche for themselves or not! Regards, RightMan
If your site is good for google, then no prob for bing.Coz each search engine is diff. Single webpage can't be optimized for all search engines. If you page is at No.1 at google then may be at no.7-8 at bing or yahoo. All works on only inbound links
If you want to compare results side by side, horizontal or vertical, and auto scrolling both results at the same time, check this out: http://www.bing-vs-google.com/
A rebranded rerelease of a failed attempt at building a popular search engine. They may actually succeed this time, since they: - thought about functionality - thought about ergonomy - took Microsoft out of the name - have a lot of time, money, and motivation to make it work (unfortunately).
Bing is a new brand yes, but the search engine has been improved also to draw information from a wider range of sources, much like google has been doing (so yes, microsoft is still trailing in googles footsteps, trying to take a pinch of their market share).
It's a decent search engine, but I see it more as microsoft's almost childish need to be the "best" at everything.
