Feedback How come admins don't change names or delete accounts?

Sorry, but it just seems like an abuse of power when people don't follow up on simple requests. If people don't like their current name or they want to have their membership removed, I don't see why there should be a big deal made over it. If I had a site and someone asked me to alter their name or delete their account, I sure wouldn't make a fuss over it.

You can have your username changed for a fee, though your old usernames will remain in your profile history. Check this page out: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/payments.php

Perhaps DP admins are too busy to do things such as delete accounts.

More importantly, why join a community that you don't want to be a part of? Prepare for the future - if you want your account deleted because you just want to rejoin under another username - you're SOL. However, if you want your account deleted so you cannot be traced here, well you probably should have had the foresight to not post things that you didn't want associated with yourself in the first place.

As a sawz once said, You don't get blank checks here.

If you just don't want to use the forums, control yourself and go away. Change your password to random string of letters/numbers/symbols, and before that create a disposable email that will not exist 20 minutes from when you confirm it as your email, so you can never come back or create a new account. I would advise, though, to think towards the future and that if you once had an interest in the resources here, you may once again.

If you want something a little less permanent, and cannot control yourself through sheer willpower, go to your hosts file ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hosts_file ) and enter this line:

    127.0.0.1 forums.digitalpoint.com

And you will redirect to your localhost (aka. nothing there) every time you try and load the forums.

Just Pay for a Name Change. You are only allowed 1 account in a lifetime and if you create another account it will be quickly banned.

http://forums.digitalpoint.com/payments.php < Follow this link and pay the $25 to change your Username.

    1. If you want to change your username you can, but you have to pay for it. The reasons for that were discussed in the past. Try searching. Name changes didn't used to be allowed here at all. Payment is to still discourage it for most, because on a forum this size the process affects everyone every time it's done.

    2. We also don't want people scamming others here and simply changing their name or deleting their account to hide the evidence. Whatever you do here stays here, and that's a reason the old username can be seen in the history even when you change it.

    3. Most forums I've been to won't delete your account. There's nothing strange about that. As I noted, it's to stop people from trying to hide the evidence of past bad behavior, but it's also about maintaining previous discussions. When a discussion is archived, any visitor should be able to view the thread and read what was said -- if we just removed your account and posts, it would knock out any thread you started (including others' posts in them) and there would be holes in other discussions. Forums are for discussions. There's no reason we should sacrifice them and make others miss out just because you've had a change of heart. If that's the case, tough luck. It's your responsibility to think before posting anything, and making sure you don't post anything you wouldn't want associated with your name or handle. We have neither the time or inclination to clean up messes people make because they didn't think first or to satisfy their whims while hurting others.
