    Hi guys,

I'm URGENTLY looking for 7 web hosting articles. I need them in very high quality, and I need them in under eight hours. Which American-based writer can do this for me QUICKLY?

Please contact me through private message ASAP!

    Oh no!!!!

I have some spare time today, I'm very knoledgeable in hosting topics, but I'm not an American-based writer.

OMG, why do people forget about all the other English speaking countries starting with the UK, mother land of English language?

Because some of us run a REAL business and need UK people to either have a VAT number or have their affairs in order in another way, which most of you don't.

Our company is a large, professional online marketing agency - and we can't just hire European writers because of taw laws. We are located in Europe as well, my English is way above standard, but if I cloned myself and that clone didn't have a VAT number - I wouldn't hire him either.

REAL online business is like any other business. We have rules to deal with. I'm sure loads of small players here don't mind evasing taxes and risking a couple hundred dollars in fines -- but real companies risk thousands in fines, and I'm pretty sure you're writing isn't worth THAT risk. ;-)

    Good luck!

    Hi there,

Agreed, tax issues can be tricky, which is why non-US freelance writers can either obtain an ITIN (like I did) or simply tick the box that says "non-US independent contractor."

Either of these things satisfy the requirements of the IRS at tax time.

Hope this helps (and broadens your potential pool of writing talent)

PS: Just to clarify, that last message also applies to UK tax-law.

I have NO affiliation with the IRS. I am located in Europe, and I know it sounds strange, but hiring US people is A LOT easier, tax-wise.

That is interesting... I was under the impression that a writer only needed to register for UK or EU VAT if they were residents (or at least tax residents) of any of the covered countries - and if they were going to be earning more than the threshold for the country of residence.

No government seems to know what to do with freelancers do they? In my case, I'm in Europe too but am a citizen of New Zealand and Australia. I pay tax to the Australian government, and invoice my clients using either my Australian Business Number, GST number (similar to VAT) or both, depending on where they are. My European clients have no tax problems when they work with me - it's the same as if they bought shoes from Australia.

I am surprised you would only hire freelancers who are registered for VAT - how would you buy goods from China, for instance? I'm sure no Chinese manufacturer is registered for VAT.

Thanks for replying - The world of international freelancing is complicated, and its always good to hear about the experience of buyers and writers.

The good thing about Chinese suppliers, is that they fall outside of the VAT regulation. It's extremely easy for us to deal with non-VAT countries, as it's just a matter of NOT charging/being charged VAT.

Inside the EU, VAT has to be charged. I can make purchases from EU members without a VAT number, but for services, it's tough. Most of these freelancers don't report their income, quite a few are scamming their governments - and inside the EU, I don't want to risk getting fined loads of money for small outsourcing-jobs. :)

Makes sense, thanks for the info.

And if you want a writer from a non-VAT country who pays tax to her home government but works in your time-zone, drop me a line (Cheeky I know, but it's always worth a try!) :)
