Hi Guys, Newbie here. I started a metasearch site that gather info from Yahoo, Bing and Google. I would need your help/advices to start my site and get some traffic. My site is yabigo.com Any suggestion is welcome!!! Thanks!
Try to build some quicl backlinks by submitting to digg, stumbleupon and do regular commenting on high PR blogs. This will bring your site into search engines notices.
Checked your site. pretty good one. Are you using any script? Anyway I would say that getting your meta search engine to be popular is a huge task. Remember how CUIL and all failed. Its difficult to get people to use your search engine over Google. The best thing you can put your site to use is for SEO professionals and the likes. They would like to have such sites so that they can compare SERP's for keywords. Try promoting the site as an SEO tool for webmasters rather than a meta search engine. It will get you more traffic and users
I really like the concept, but was curious as to how you were getting Google results. Do you scrape for those?
Thank to all provide ideas. It is indexed by google now, but I am still waiting for bing and yahoo. @businessheadache: Thanks for your input. I develop the whole site on my own so there is no script being used. I really like your idea of advertising it as SEO tool. I will definitely think about it. @Badlands07: Google result is done by google api. There is also a search engine on your signature, you should know it?
Nice to see you liked my idea. What is your revenue source for the site? I have adblock so I wont see adsense ads if you have it.
jl1981, I have one of the original Google Search APIs, but they have not given them out for years and recently (last August) canceled the functionality of even those that still had one. So, I am really curious as to what API you are using and where you got it. Thanks....
@businessheadache: I didn't run any adsense or others. I just want to build something working and fun first, then I believe (and hope) money will come after. At least it is what I have seen people posting here @Badlands07: http://www.yabigo.com/?s=google+search+api&m=1
I'd offer you to take some time and submit to niche directories. In my opinion this is the fastest FREE way.
Join the Club. I own a metasearch engine which is going to be converted into its own engine very soon. Add a few features and search suggestions should help with organic traffic. I'm getting search terms that are completely crazy.
