hi i have problem regarding SEO. i need ur valuable suggestions in my website. i ranked in PR 4 recently, inspite of, i could not manage the traffic, what should i do! i have a 1744+ readers , in spite of it, unique and page impression is low, i m worrying about it, can any one knows the reasons ???? http://thesofthelp.com plz help me another problem, i faced in webmaster tool of google. of restricted robots.txt file what does it's mean?
you have a line that looks like this: Disallow: /search It tells the robot that it cannot index the contents of that /search/ directory http://www.thesofthelp.com/robots.txt
the disallow search in robots is to prevent duplicate content from search results to be indexed. This is good seo wise. PR as nothing to do with SERP. find some valuable keywords and optimise your content then build links.
Answer to ranking issue As a previous poster mentioned PR has nothing to do with search engine ranking. PR is the Page Rank of each web page and is a value Google gives them so they can work out its general importance (it's more complicated than that but that will do for this purpose) NOT its importance for a particular search phrase (keyword) For a web page to return high in Google search it must be 'on page optimised' for the specific search phrase and 'off page' optimised with links to it from other sites. These links have greater value from higher PR pages BUT importantly they need to use the search phrase as anchor text. So, what keywords are your web pages optimised for AND what is the Google competition for those keywords? See if the keywords have high competition (simply found by doing a phrase match search in Google - but more accurately by analysing the top 10 sites returned by a Google search for that keyword). Assuming your 'on page' SEO is OK the simply get more back links to your site using your keywords as anchor text. The higher the keyword competition the more/higher PR links you will need to get high in the search engines. One thing I forgot to mention is the search volume of the keywords. If the keywords have a low search volume (no-one typing it into Google) then no matter how high you get for that search term you won't get many visitors. Robot.txt issue It doesn't actually look like a problem. I can't see the whole of the screenshot/error list but... all the URL's shown are search URL's. It looks like these are 'transient' results of searches and not actual permanent pages. In this case the robot.txt is doing it's job correctly and stopping the search engines from indexing them.
Having a very High PR for your site, doesn't mean that you'll get any traffics if you don't use the right keywords. Sure you might get some traffics, but you probably not targetting the right people. Sometimes, it is best to ask your visitors what they want you to write about. And the best way to do this is to Create a Poll or something. Ask your readers to drop you a line.
First of all, your website is a PR 1 not 4. Second, PR does not have a direct effect on your rankings. You need to spend some time developing you H1 tags and content at the very least.
Hello, Page rank dose not mean that you will get good traffic for your site. you will increase traffic by doing SEO ( Both on page and off page). make your content do follow so crawler can read it.
More PR does'nt mean traffic ll be a lot.you have to do keywords analysis once again and target the major keywords.
