Got an internet stalker

I have a batshit crazy family member stalking my family. They google me and my email addys, etc. Can I change my username? Even if its just removing one letter or something.. I just need to NOT be searched by this freak parade.

AND its $25?? Thats just bullshit too. I have a legal case against this person. I shouldnt have to pay $25 to change it on a internet forum.

So, I own the account and I wish to change it.

 

The profile is not viewable to guest or bots neways.. so that shouldnt be a worry unless the person is registered

 

I dont know if they are registered! They are CRAZY so my guess is yes they are if Im a member and they found me here so that is no help to me that way.

 

File a Police report and give them access to or a copy of everything that person has sent you.
This should resolve the problem.

 

There is no way to remove you, by just changing your name. Your name will still show up in google. They will follow it and see your new username, so really it won't make a difference if you change it.

Your best course is legal action..

Um, we're past the "file a police report" stage. They STALK me. Google, follow me, whatever. Was just told about them doing it 2 days ago.

Yes, changing your username does remove it. Once the bots recrawl threads it updates. I own a vb forum and know how it works and it takes 3 seconds to change it. Not changing a username because of a privacy issue is bogus.

Paying $25, whatever, I can do that but I want NO TRACE of the old username. No need for legal action since its in the terms of vb license that I own my account here and most hosting companies accomodate to avoid issues.

And, I joined in 2008 with not a whole lot of posts. Im not a trouble maker or BST problem person, just trying to protect myself is all.

 

I would suggest filing a restraining order then. If they contact you or follow you in any way after that they will be in violation of the order, and arrested.

You can't be 2 sure about that if she does have a good reason and can't afford to pay for the change I think Shawn might change it for her under these circumstances.

The problem is that if one person gets a username change for free, everyone comes up with a reason for it.

What are the police doing to help?

How do you know he is stalking you? What is he doing?

 

Even if you get a name change your old name is still shown in your profile. Instead of running away at dp you should just relax and let them come in DP and once they stalk you here they will be banned and your problem is solved here.
