I am curious what is going on with Google. A site of mine that I havent done anything with for about 3 or 4 months has shot up with a number of indexed pages. Dont get me wrong I dont mind but the problem is I know I dont have that many pages. Google has indexed over 500k pages. The site doesnt have that many. Any ideas from you experts how Google would index this many pages if the site doesnt have that many?
That's a great news for you, you must be getting lots of traffic now. G seems not stable it just ups and downs
One of my SEO related keyword, sometime Google show it on 9th position sometimes it is on 26th and sometime it is on 32nd, I don't know why and whats going on in Google, but I got my different positions result within a day
Have u carefully checked the results. some times google crawel single pages in two versons i.e. with and without www. so it may be possible that is shouing www.yourpage.com/internalpage1.html along with yourpage.com/internalpage1.html it happens so many times to my websites
If it is an issue of the www version and the non-www version, you can let Google know which one you prefer using Sitemaps. http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/ It will help ifyou are having weird duplicate issues because it is being indexed with both. Florida - did you have a look and see what pages were showing up in the index as yours that could account for the additional pages? That would be the first place to start to ensure there isn't anything going on with your host or someone hacking and making a few million extra spam pages using your site's PR to get them indexed.
The version I am searching is site:http://www.domain.com the site was showing 582k indexed pages yesterday. Now the site using that same search string is only showing today 170k but then when I use the site:www.domain it is showing 200k. This type of fluctuation and number of pages indexed does not make any sense.
