Hi there, Not sure if this post is at the right place but if it's not please point me to the right direction . I have a dating site and want to give people the option to search by UK postcode and miles radius. I need a UK postcode Database and also need someone who can implement this search option with UK postcodes. Does anyone have any knowledge of this type of work? If so please let me know as I can pay you to do this job for me. If not, then I would really appriciate it if you could point me to the right direction. Thank you and Best Wishes Reloadzzz
You can get the UK postcodes from the Post Office - check out http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/jump2?catId=400084&mediaId=600128&keyname=UKADDRESS. I don;t know the format of the data but it does mention that "Address Manager option holds Gridlink® to a 100m accuracy". So it has some kind of address positioning. You'd need to check it out with them. But it'll cost you - check out http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content1?mediaId=52200712&catId=600128.

Not any more. In a scheme being introduced by the UK government, post codes and locationizing them to their respective addresses shall be available for any developers wishing to access the database as from April 2010. You will need to Google it to find out more.
does anyone have the most recent postcode database they want to tell me about or sell? That would relly help. thank you
Well then you will need to contact the royal mail and ordance survey office. (I forget their name). They will supply you with the boundary information and the PAF file which maps to post codes. You can find services out there whichi might be cheaper, but currently Royal Mail holds the licences.
