Intel is playing catch up with AMD. Dollar for Dollar, AMD kicks Intels ass. If you can afford the top tier and money is no object, try the new Intel. But if you have a budget, go AMD. Remember new technology from Intel like the 386 math issue? I wouldn't buy first generation technology of anything. Anyway, good luck.
In advice dont buy anything currently the price will fal 50% in 2 weeks. " How do I know " . Dont ask
I was an Intel user for years since the 286 days... This last one I got was an AMD dual core X64 and I couldn't be happier with it and it was cheaper...
I wasn't really concered about it *Beating an Intel*... It plays DOOM III, Quake IV, PREY perfectly and Photoshop and everything else running to my liking... I also run SETI@Home on both Cores and it had some of the fastest times recorded while working on units... Basically I'm happy with it and pretty much either AMD or Intel will do what any home user wants it too... If your doing "Number Crunching, Animations, and Video Editing" then you may want to look closer at the Specs & Benchmarks of both processors... RAM is also important for running those...
How many AMD Vs Intel threads do we need?? here is an active one already - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=129541 And this - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=106004 And this - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=62517 BTW I am an Intel guy, Pentium D or Core duo rocks.
Why even ask when "real facts" can be had with a simple search on ask.com or yahoo.com? What one believes and fact are usually very very different.
That's very true, I can gather the data very easily by searching on the web, I just wanted to know, what CPU the members of DP are using Thanks for your reply.
I use AMD but might switch to intel with my next computer. According to this site: http://www.adequacy.org/public/stories/2001.12.2.42056.2147.html, using AMD makes me a hacker.
All my pcs except my laptop have been AMD and I think they are great processors. Whenever I buy a new pc I always prefer AMD because they are cheaper and better than Intel.
I would agree, AMD seems to be better for running high intensity apps and games. But the processing power of an Intel is great.
