I totally agree with "redthehat" this isnt a good strategy at all. Being indexed does not mean anything? You will be indexed in time anyway but no new website will get an instant position they have to earn it through relevance and natural SEO. Why would you need to get indexed fast, when it will not give you any positions so no one can find you through search anyway. Positions only come in time!

Here is one thing for you. How about you create 5 articles for a good article directory that include valuable backlinks to your main site, post on about 10 blogs that have follow links, then submit your blog/site to at least 5 - 10 directories. Not only will that get you listed fast, it will be good and worthwhile organic SEO. It will in some cases even get you search engine results within a week or two.

I would be careful of this system. If a lot of people are using it then it will leave a footprint. If some of those people are spammy or abuse it then all of the sites that have the same footprint could suffer. Just be careful!

The secret to get quickly indexed is to first let search engines like Google know that your site is alive and breathing. The bots won’t index you unless they know you are there on the web and quality PR sites are noticing you. You just need few good links from trusted domains of your own Niche pointing to your site and in no time your positions will be better than the same site who added their links in hundereds directories and also you would be heading up the ladder in your search engine rankings.
Just put a couple of links out there on the web pointing towards your site and you will get crawled. This has always seemed to be the best method. Crawlers crawl links day and night and you too will get crawled.

You can't get a google penalty by using sites like this or else people would just run their competitors URLs through them!

worst case is they don't show up as backlinks.

Good trick but you should really be looking into articles, blogging, comments, link exchanges to get any decent long lasting links.
