Which laptop is better?

My old Acer 3000 with AMD Sempron is near death and I need a new laptop. I am comparing the two below.

ASUS U80 (Intel Core 2 T6600 Mobile Processor with 4GB RAM and integrated graphics )
    http://www.staples.com/Asus-U80A-RST...mArea=CIRCULAR

HP dm3 (AMD Athlon X2 Neo with 4GB RAM, and ATI 3200 graphics card.)
    http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...ct_id=12347236

I don't play games, but I do multi-task and watch videos, listen to music, browse the net, work on word, etc.

Which is a better computer? (without factoring the price, just by specs/quality)

Its simple dude. HP is better than Asus.
And Dell is better than HP. So, select accordingly. :)

Actually, in the long-term, Asus is rated higher than either HP or Dell for hardware reliability. Asus makes great machines, don't be fooled. If you look at many different internal component types at Newegg, you'll see that anything Asus makes usually has some of the highest consumer ratings.

Take a look at this report from SquareTrade. http://www.squaretrade.com/htm/pdf/SquareTrade_laptop_reliability_1109.pdf

From their 30,000 warranty claims involving hardware, Asus and Toshiba beat out every other brand of laptop for reliability. I don't trust who will make it cheap and slap their "big name" on it, I only care about the quality of the components and construction, and Asus delivers.

I don't know about Asus - but stay away from HP Laptops! I had one and not only was it a piece of junk, but the customer support you get from HP is non-existent. I have a Dell now and it's OK. Toshiba gets the best customer ratings that I have seen. That is probably what I will go with next time.

Get Acer with Intel processor. Dell is also good. If you have money, go for MacBook Pro. The MBP is an awesome machine.

The Core 2 due intel processors blow AMD away. I'd go with that one!

I would go with the asus. I have never had an issue with an asus product. I have had many issues with HP computers. You can look up reviews if you want on the two and see what people say about them.

and if price is not an issue, I really would go with the macbook. And I am not even a mac lover, I just prefer their laptops. Their construction and customer service are top notch.

I would suggest you to go for Dell.

Dell is the best compared to all other brands.

I was a sales man in a computer shop, most warranty claim was on Asus an HP Laptops. Best choice will be Dell! If you can afford go for an i7 Laptop. Good luck
