There are a few threads laying around that teach you how to search and find those types of links for yourself.

Personally, I'd rather find 100-200 high PR blogs myself then a bunch that are getting sold to tons of people and risk being closed down at any moment.

Are they really worth it? I really haven't seen much effect on serp. They are just hyped backlinks.

no, it doesn't make any difference. edu and gov links are just like any other backlinks from regular TLDs and wont help you any better in your SERP ranking. if you can get your hands on few links, then by all means take advantage of it as they are backlinks. but i dont suggest anyone taking any additional steps or spending any additional time searching for those type of links

    Try:

    http://lmgtfy.com/?q=where+to+get+.edu+and+.gov+links+free

    and

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/search.php

Mostly disagree, its about trust. But a stupid .edu and .gov won't help much. If you can manage a relevant one then its going to help more then an equivilant .com. IMHO

What happens if it's irrelevant .gov site like let's say NASA! Would that help you at all?

Does a comment on such blog count as one link? How about if you like such a blog and comment daily, would all of your comments still count as 1 back link from an .edu/.gov site?

Exactly, edu and gov are good not because they are edu and gov but because theyre usually associated with reputable organisation.

If you have Market Samurai software, they have a new feature that searches for .edu and .gov links for your niche to get a good related link.

Actually Pro Blog Design suggests this dofollow.radpixels(.)com a DoFollow Blog SE! I haven't used it, but if they recommend it, must be worth it
