vbulletin or IP.Board?

I am working on the biggest project I have ever had in mind. Truthfully I have half-ass this project so far. However, this is a new year with a new mindset to get things done. With that being said, I really don't want to half-ass this project. I want to completely redo the site without losing any content.

At the moment I am running wordpress + wordpress theme freewptube that allows it to be a video site + wordpress plugin simplepress for the forum. So far this combo has been working but it limits what I want to do and does not have the professional look that I want.

    My site: Poker Commercials

List of features I need for both me and my users.
Forum (I need to place a banner under the first post on each thread base on keywords in the first post)
Blogs (some of my users want to speak their mind besides in the forum)
Gallery (My users and I want to upload a lot of screenshots)
CMS (I have a lot of poker room reviews, poker training site reviews, and poker articles that will be written)

So my question is which one would be best in the long run.

    vbulletin 4.0 publishing suite or IP.Board + (IP.Blog, IP.Content, and IP.Gallery)

vbulletin 4.0 publishing suite looks like the best option for the long term because I wouldn't have put many things together but at the moment has a ton of bugs. So I would have to wait until they fix the bugs before I buy it.

IP.Board + (IP.Blog, IP.Content, and IP.Gallery) looks like a solid product(s) that will do everything I need. Cheaper than vbulletin but always been looked at as second when it came to forum software.

Please help me by posting the pros and cons of both. Which one would you pick and why? If you already using one of the two or both. Let me know your likes and dislikes about the software.

    Thanks alot for your help.

I say go with vB, vb4 is looking great. Apart from all the errors people get because they didnt upload files or do not know how to follow instructions.
vB is the best forum software out there :) they even own the domain the best forum software. They redirected vb.com to it lol. Forgot the domain though.

I've been a vBulletin fanboy for many years, but lately iNet is running vBulletin into the ground.
Check out how many former vbulletin owners have switched to IPB.
It's actually a bit scary if you think about it.
I don't see vbulletin holding the top spot for long.

Yeah, I read great things about vb4. Most people are just waiting for their mods to be converted to work with vb4. However, I read many bad stories about the vbulletin 4.0 publishing suite. Which is the forum and CMS. The forum is fine but the CMS is full with bugs.

I really need the forum, blogs, gallery, and CMS for the success of my site. I guess I got my heart set on vb4 publishing suite and just want to read all the benefits of using from someone already using it. I guess I will have to wait until all the bugs are fixed. (who knows when that will be)

I prefer IPB as I find it easier to use but loads of people have loads of different views on them and at the end of the day you can make a fantastic forum with either so have a look and see which you prefer.

With that being said, what would you recommend for a new site?

I am guessing you use the IP.Board but have you use the IP.Blog, IP.Content, and IP.Gallery with it?

Yeah, your site IPB Setup. I been all over it (still haven't joined yet) and I am seriously thinking about not waiting for vb4 and going for IP.Board with all the addons.

    Oh thanks, :)
It's started off as a place for old vb guys and gals to see what IPB can do.
I'm slowly working on it, I really dig the IP.Content mod, I just purchase the IP.Blogs tonight, I'll have them installed in a few days.
I think I'll start to work on the style here in a couple of weeks.

Personally even i feel vbulletin is going down the lane nowadays they have started acting totally unprofessional on the other hand Invision is trying to do everything to welcome new members its worth a shot to go for IPB now as atleast ur license will remain for ever and not like vb

I completely agree with you. My research lead me to pick Invision over vb because Invision is going out of their way to make sure they listen to everybody. Plus IP.Board with all its addons is still cheaper than getting vb publishing suite.

Yea but the only problem with IPB is thier community is that big in the sense the mods available are pretty less
