Twitter, from what I can tell, is unique in that it is scalable. In other words, you can steadily grow your business on it. Social bookmarking is somewhat this way as well. Both are a lot of work but that's what it takes to get quality growth imho...
Thanks so much for all the ideas. Can you say a little more about #2. How would you use Google Groups? I take it you would contribute in a meaningful way and then occasionally throw one of your own personal links out there? Or do these groups normally let you put your personal URL in your signature? In social media I totally believe in making a contribution, but I also want to promote my own site and so if you could explain a little more about this I would appreciate it.
The problem with joining yahoo group or google group is that we dont gain benefits of backlinks. And there is no guarantee of visitors. At least in forums, we get the backlinks as well as some traffic.
That's kind of what I was getting at. Google isn't going to give you any kudos for posting into their groups I wouldn't think. But I'm a newbie...
