Earning a Living: Forums?

do you think you can earn decent money from a big enough forum?

asking because i really want to push my forum - but will it be worth it financially?

 

you can definetly make good money from a froum if it provides value to it's users.

 

Yes you can. You can make loads just with adsense (just look at this forum for example).

 

what if you can't use adsnese if it's an adult site!

 

use blacklabelads or some network which is support for adults web sites.

 

Just making 4 dollar a day with a forum with 1000 visitors, ain't that good.

 

Well forums are good in the sense a high traffic forum gets good publicity

 

if your forum gets lot of traffic then surely you will earn thru it even to which ppc you're into.

 

I dont think forums can earn any real money for the post part. There may only be a handful of forums out there that anyone could retire on from their earnings.


This is one of the biggest if not THE biggest vbulletin forums and I have no clue how they make any money.

I'm remember offtopic forums charge money for ability to post immediately after you create account, otherwise you have to wait a month or so.

They also sell "sticky post" position for $30 a day or something like that.

 

I don't think you can earn a living with a big forum , though if you can have a big forum like dp then it might be a possibility.

 

You can make money from a forum. It's just like any other site.

 

You can definitely make money with forums, but you will probably have a low ctr

 

Of course you can.But it's very difficult for you to develop a forum well.You need invest,devotion and fellows.

 

well i'm 100% my forum so lets hope so.

 

you have to put your new ideas in the forum regularly..................and get some donation to maintain your forum....................

 

You could go for premium memberships and sell them for like 5$ a month or even cheaper depending on the number of member your forum has

 

As long as you provide great quality services with affordable prices on relevant and reputed forums like DP, no doubt that you will get more than you need .

 

often forum members look up to the forum owners so this gives you a bit of power with them.
Select some products carefully with your members in mind and market those to them. Don't give them any old junk but offer them high quality videos or toys or towels
You just don't want to abuse your power or people will think you are trying to take advantage of them.

 

I tend to agree. I doubt there are many more than 100 forums on the entire web that earn enough for a westerner to feel like they're making serious money.

Being one of those very few is quite a long shot.
