Nah, that's only because Google has messed the last two PR updates and older sites didn't get their PR updated. Alive directory although you may not see it at the Gbar is probably at least PR7. Not really, you see two of determining factors of the value of a directory are age and brand recognition. Seven Seek has both of those while my directory doesn't. Edit to add: Congrats on the sale John, I am sure it went to good hands.
Interesting to hear what people like and don't like. Mind if I ask what kind of directory you do like? My tastes change - I used to like BlueFind (bland) but now I'm more into the colorful, but not too colorful thing. I think Umdum is one of the best looking directories out there. The new Aviva design is a good one, too.
Is PR the only reason people submit to directories? I get some serious traffic from some PR3 directories and almost none from PR6+s.
I like for a directory to be 'fun'(in both a browsability and looking aspect). Colors that come out at you, bright in contrast, and just mesh well. I think a directory that makes you look left to right, and makes you have to rethink why you came there in the first place is one that suits the 'fun' factor (imho of course) I think umdum is a great looking directory from a graphical aspect, but the colors are dull. I guess there is still lots of room for different types of directory 'feels'(if you will), to be created. A good example of a fun looking directory would be chris's www.AllMediaDirectory.com. Now I don't say this because I was part of the design factor in it. I say it because it truly is a fun looking place and yes, I do visit it every now and then. From what I have gather and have heard, you appear to be a well known and respected entity on the web(I am only 6mo's into the directory scene and new at this, so forgive the lack of people knowledge). So what I'd like to ask is; would the success of sevenseek be based solely on your 'known presence' or was it true marketing that brought it to it's popularity and place at this day in age?(unlike like v7n marketing) Rob
