1. I have an affiliate hop link as http://xxxxx-xxxxxxx.hop.clickbank.net/ 2. I bought a domain name that represents the product i'm selling www.mynichetargetkeyword.com 3. I made www.mynichetargetkeyword.com mask http://xxxxx-xxxxxxx.hop.clickbank.net/, so when i market my product i use this domain name www.mynichetargetkeyword.com. 4. When user clicks www.mynichetargetkeyword.com, he/she sees www.mynichetargetkeyword.com on the URL bar. However, the actual link http://www.---------.com/?hop=username is hidden all the time. 5. When visitor clicks the Buy Button, the URL changes to ClickBank's order page URL. ********************** Why did i do this? To stand out the crowd, to focus on my niche keyword and to let google adwords accept my text ads. ********************** Question: Am i loosing sales/commissions? I'm just afraid of doing something wrong which makes me loose sales without my awareness or warnings from the vendor.
You will not lose any sales, as a matter of fact, it is recommended by many marketers to mask your link. Just make sure you set up everything correctly.
Hey peace2006, masking your affiliate link is something that you want to do. It can increase your conversions. Just make sure you set it up right and pick a good catchy domain that applies to the niche.
Thanks for your prompt response. I go another question! I always wondered what is the different between this link xxxxx-xxxxxxx.hop.clickbank.net and this one www.---------.com/?hop=username? Why don't we just use/market with this one directly www.---------.com/?hop=username?
If you use www.---------.com/?hop=username clickbank doesn't seem to track your ID, so you will NOT get credit for the sale, so don't use it! Why it even does that after clicking the affiliate link, I have no idea. I've always wondered why clickbank just doesn't erase the '?hop=username' in the URL after clicking the hoplink.
You should always use the non-expanded form of the hoplink.. doesnt matter as long as it is whether u mask it or not..
That's great to do. Just make sure you have the landing page as directing adwords traffic straight to the vendor's page will result in google slapping you.
Wow, I thought most of the people selling their products were responsible for this. I noticed that when I followed my affiliate link all the way to the payment screen, on the bottom it would say "affiliate=none". What I assumed was going on was the sellers were bringing you through page after page in order to disable the affiliate compensation. Thanks for that, I now have faith that CB can actually make you some money.
Simply click through your links and pretend you are a buyer, then when you get to the order page see if your affiliate id is at the bottom of the page.
