I've done quite a few case studies/tests in the past that I've shared here (or in other parts of DP.) But most of them have been very isolated tests where I was trying to see how well a specific link building method worked on it's own. Of course this is not how I actually use my link building methods. I use them in conjunction. With this 2010 case study I'm going to be testing things in a more "real world" way. I'm going to be using MAR + all of my article distribution services because this is what I really do to build links/serps/make money. This case study should be a real world example of how someone can make money with the methods that I use. I am showing exactly where I am right now with this website (161 uniques last month --- 6 sales/308 hops over the last three months) so that whatever happens with this case study can be put in context. I'll be updating this thread with the results as they come in, this should be something that will be going on throughout the whole year. Cool, I will be following that. I have Automatic Article Submitter and will be using that as well. It definitely works for backlinks, but I am not sure of the effects at rankings.
Interesting case study. A few questions about your experience with the 40 ezine links that you mentioned you initially got in 2008. How spaced out were these article submissions, and did they result in any sand boxing? I think your once a week idea for this new round of link building is a good pace. I remember when Matt C. from the big G mentioned that article link tactics were going to lose their effectiveness. Have you noticed this yet?
When did he say that? I haven't noticed any decreases in my SERPS. Seems to be working as well as ever, in fact. --- As far as the ~40 EZA I did for the site in 2008... I don't have a great recollection of it, but I believe it was done pretty quickly... I don't really remember much in the way of sand boxing. But the site never really took off as far as traffic/SERPS. I made a decent amount of sales but they dwindled to where they are now ... one or two a month on average (although I did have three in December.)
