Cached more frequently?

Hello, I was wondering how I could get my site to be cached more frequently. The last time it was cached was only Dec 17, 2009. I read that Google cache's sites that update frequently, but my site is pretty static and there is really no way I could update/add content every day.

Would it be helpful to add a blog to the site? I would blog about related topics, but would these daily blog updates help to the overall cache of my site?

    Thanks. :)

More frequent content changes = more crawling. If you're site it pretty much static, why do you want more crawls?

I've removed the problem of stale caches by removing the ability to cache at all. That way all content stays as fresh as the next engine crawl. If you want to try that route, use the "no cache" meta tag.

Anyone knows the frequency of crawling a site for google? Is it happens once in a month or weekly?

    Same question as Deuterium here.

If the site is static, what benefit would you get by the crawler visiting you more often?

I thought, the more your site is cached, the faster changes are made in serps. I guess that is a misconception?

That's a very big misconception. It only matters is you have content that's always changing aka, more live content.

if depends on how frequently you change/add fresh content in your site.. if u have a 100 % static site then it might be possible that Google come once in a month and if u have blog and you update it frequently then Google may come weekly....

Does Google pick up backlinks when caching or by a separate process then?

Add more incoming to links to your site that way google will find it more often , but if your site is pretty static do you really need it crawled more often? and if it never changes why would google bother looking over your site again?
