the creation of universe is surely a random event. like "a hurricane assembling a jumbo jet from its components laid out in an aircraft hangar" another think is you don't have to believe in something to live in this world.
I believe in God, love, and eternal salvation. But I also believe that my God is not limited to one book, even if I believe in that book. I don't know about anyone else, but I think life would really suck if there's no afterlife. As in, termination of life. Oh, by the way, I do think the fact that we humans are even HAVING this discussion is proof of God. You don't exactly see other animals setting up discussion panels on the creator or not. Which goes hand in hand with the idea that we are created in the image of a divine being and stand apart from the animal kingdom at large.
Those books were written for groups of primitive people lived 1000s of years ago. watch this Sam Harris video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEYFTUrPM8A
~ To reach fulfillment is mastering ones own mind / existence - as Columbus crossed the void and found land on the other side so there is land across the void of the mind when reached will answer the questions of existence and is the outerworld of immortality found already by God and available for everyone.
This I can understand completely. I wouldn't expect a born Athiest to jump straight into religion without a single shadow of evidence and just do it because say, peer pressure or something like that. Same for every aspect of any big decision. Even with business. But as far a science goes, it stands in the same category as religion to a outsiders onlook. There's no solid proof with either. Only someone knows both science and religion at a major agree can make a solid judgement on what is correct or not. This isn't possible because people who are Christian cannot be undone and people who are into science can't walk away from that evidence. Its near impossible to throw evidence of Christianity because its a "your the only one who knows" and I have not seen any big eye catchers for science either for a guy who doesn't study it either(myself being one), so how can anyone seriously say that one is BS and the other is not. Although I have major doubts I don't know enough about science to really make a educated guess on if its BS. I'm sticking with what I know. I don't mind if you or St0k go for science, but talking down on Christianity is just not on your plate to conversate(no, you didn't do that yet yourself).
I have really wanted to believe in something most of my life. I've found that there is nothing I can really believe in. I wanted to believe in a "higher power", especially when it could have meant joining a group I was very interested in joining, but I couldn't go against my non-belief. I would be classified by most as atheist, but I also have no belief in the religion of science, which has no more validity. Science has never proven anything - it can only disprove. I've studied many religions, and I see no difference. All of them have a basic ethic, mostly similar. And most have a belief in a deity or deities. None of them have any compelling reason to believe there is one true religion, which leads me to believe there isn't one. No more truth in the ancient religions which have gone out of favor than in the more modern ones that enjoy popularity. The bible actually says that it contains all truth. I'd be curious to know of what truth or proof you speak. Testimony is always subjective, and if you don't believe that, ask any police officer or judge. You believe because someone else tells you they had a personal experience? Or because the bible tells you so? Do you buy a car because the salesman tells you to trust him? Or because someone on a commercial tells you it was the best car they ever bought? If not, what is the difference? You say it doesn't make sense to say you don't believe because no proof was offered, but the only proof you offer is from the bible, which is a book produced by man. What actual proof do you offer for your belief? So you are saying people should only have the right to the beliefs with which you agree? And what experience do you have with atheists? Not all religions actually believe in the concept of a soul, outside of the Judeo-Christian-Islamic religions, at least not in the same way. One thing most religions do have in common however is morality. Not that they all believe in the same morality, but they generally seem to have a moral basis that binds the believers together. Again, I would ask you what "proof" you have that is 100%. If there was such proof I would find it hard to believe that most people wouldn't already believe, but I'm willing to at least hear your proof. It sounds more to me like you don't know the bible. According to the Christian bible, depending on your particular sect, belief in Christ as the savior is the only requirement for admission to heaven. However, some still believe in other requirements. And your number of other things is absurd. Your points assume that everyone has or should have a belief in the bible, and leave no room for other beliefs, which seems to me to be close-minded, and I would assume that any enlightened belief should be open to discussion. You seem to need to make up your mind. You said above that belief is the only requirement for admission to heaven. Actually you said that being a Christian is the only requirement. Then you say that non-belief doesn't mean you go to hell? And your thoughts about hating something that doesn't exist? You sound really confused. I'd love to hear some more explaination about this... You speak against yourself here more than anyone else who has had something to say. Your first statement - "You cannot prove God does not exist more than you can prove that God does" - shows that you either believe that God's existence can not be proven, or you are just talking to be contrary, or you really don't know what it is you mean to say. As I said above, I'd love to find something to believe in, but for now I'll just stick to having some ideas about what might be. Prove me wrong...
that's probably the stupidest thing anybody has ever said. Of course, your actions betray how little you actually believe that. The fact that you are using a computer shows exactly how much more validity you think science has over religion. I assume you also immunise your children, go to the doctors when you feel unwell and drink clean water from a tap. All of these things demonstrate exactly how much more validity you think the "religion of science" has over a magic man in the sky myth. You owe your life to science many times over, stop being so ungrateful.
