I do not think that google rank according to the backlink

    Yes I do not think it. we just trying to get lots of backlink to get SERP rank, but I want to show some here. Please check the backlink of some site that are top ten on google for "WORK AT HOME" keyword.

    1. Site workathomeforum.in , number of backlink 406, not any quality acklink.

    All are some example, so what you say on it? Although there are lots of sites and blog having 10000+ backlink and completing for this keyoword, but not on top. I want your opinion on it.

    Well, they probably have more backlinks than their competitors. I notice you are in the same topic. How many backlinks do you have according to Yahoo?

    It's not only the amount of backlinks that counts. It's the quality of the backlinks and the keywords.

    as well as on page seo of course.

    well some of the keywords are not so popular so they are indexed by google in short no. of backlinks too :)

    Yes because I do not get any favorable reply. According to yahoo my backlink is almost 15000. Well all are genuine backlink.

    Well there are many factors for ranking used by Google, backlink is one of them. Quality of link and even anchor of the URL counts in getting your site in top ten in Google. So if a site having 10000+ backlinks may not be on top if its anchor text is different.

    Its more about the competition dude. If you have more backlinks than your competitor, then you win. As such your argument could be true as well because the algorithm of Google keeps changing rapidly so that noone realizes what exactly it works on.

    Just keep trying, that's the best we can do.

    I don't think the amount of the backlinks matters at all over here.. The thing matters is QUALITY. 100 Quality backlinks can definitely help you a lot rather than having 10000 poor quality links.

    you can have 10.000 backlinks if all are nofollow they have no value .

    PR involves many things, I think. Low-quality links will not do any good.

    As i remember Matt cutt said there is more than 200 factors will affect SERP. Backlink is only one thing. But based on so many SEOER's experience, it is very important and effective. :)

    traffic is not important in calculation of pr but i am not aware of seo ranking that traffic is included in the computation

    There are 5 elements Google use to rank pages in the SERPs

    1. relevance and its only up to on-page optimization.
    2. High authority links. back links from very specific sites that not every one can get like links from yahoo small business, and yahoo news, edu sites and gov sites. there are many others that for Google are the authority sites.
    3. number of blog posts and press releases that have the link with anchor text. Google will check the blog posts itself not the comments, or links on the blog-roll
    4. number of back links with PR starts with the higher PR Links and ending with PR0 also considering the nature of that link, the order of that link on the specific page and the number of links on that page.
    5. Time and change frequency of the above element. which means how old your page is, how many good quality (only quality like blog posts, press release and sometimes forum posts) back links you are getting every new cycle.

    Backlinks is one of the approx 200 factors that decide SERP so yeah, backlinks alone will not get you there, especially for competitive keyword

    I have been analyzing their backlinks since a long time, but I do not think that their getting quality backlinks, most of their backlinks are from classified sites and directory sites.

    That's a good answer. If you have strong links, you don't need that many links to rank well in the search results.
