Contest Page layout design

    Hello DP designers,

I few weeks ago I had you compete to make me a crazy logo for my project.
    Here's the logo.

Now I need a page layout designed to go hand in hand with the logo, same theme and feel.

    Ideas to inspire:

can be similar to http://www.amazon.com/ but I can do without all the fussyness on the site. Simple and to the point is good, like the logo

and some template inspirationals: http://www.templatemonster.com/flash-templates/8375.html with smaller upper tabs for links

http://www.templatemonster.com/website-templates/7596.html minus the bag and a few things.

http://www.templatemonster.com/website-templates/9037.html and this is simple, but I can do without big unnecessary images.

Contest lasts 48 hours, winner gets $ 60 or $90 if a the design is sliced and coded in CSS/HTML.

Payment via Paypal, $ 60 for designed or $90 coded.

    Thanks and good luck!

    Here is my entry...

P.S. The black border is because of digital point (to be identifiable from digital point background)
P.S.#2 I can always add more products on new/best prices like stellah's has done.
    Feedback will be really appreciated!
//in my next entry I will make the "hot" products zones a bit widhter(saw it just right now)

    Thanks!

This design is more on the right path but you both seem to follow the same example; Stella, yours is good also but since the designs are very similar, please follow the pointers I'm giving below. I'd like something different from what I've shown you and here are some pointers:

    1. The top section of the logo should be white. I want that to be absolutely clean. The log in form will stay there and can actually be a tad smaller high/width wise.

    2. the top menu bar should be solid across and rectangular with no rounded corners. Buttons should be split by whatever works esthetically. More like bodil4o did except for the round corners and grey top.

    3. bodil4o nailed if with the "find products". Very nice and subtle.

    4. LOGO LOOKS VERY UNPROPORTIONAL TO THE WHOLE OVERALL DESIGN. Please rescale logo to make it look good.

    5. Guys and gals, this site is an article directory and blog for most of its use. I would not be selling items like that, just maybe some affiliate sales later down the road. Please replace the featured items with an article or RSS feed with allowed commentaries.

    6. LEFT MENU
Should NOT be split into sections. It should be ONE section with the contents divided by whatever works visually....i.e. lines. Menu border should be square again.

    7. Featured items
Such animal will be present in the site. It's going to be one of those rotating banners on the right side of the site and would have up/down controls for navigations of products.

    8. Overall I'm looking for a CNN look, clean and to the point.

    9. Bottom links need a white background. I'm also thinking to include some affiliate logos at the bottom of the site, but can't visualize what works to keep the cleanness of the site consistent.

Thanks guys and girls, I like where this is headed. :D

Okay I have an idea and I will make it after about ~10-12hours.
Do you like the silver/light blue style I've used ?
Otherwise I knew about the logo but I thought it has to be the same (100%).

so it would be a directory :) I previously thought you would make a shopping chart like amazone and the other.. template you referred... Ok no prob, I'll prepare the next concept, and post it here soon.

for the top menu I'd prefer the blue Stella used in the "search product" area. The light blue bodil4o used in the catalog tab , and a wee bit bluer should be used for the left side menu.

it's not the problem about the skills. I see good designs here and it's sad that people like him take advantage of you guys... 90$ coding? Is that a fair price? Since he pays so "good" why doesnt he go to templatemonster and buy a template from there... What you guys are doing here is a free job. No money for your design ..nothing. dONT GET FOOLED. Im Out

Listen asshat, IF I found something that I really liked I would've gotten it to speed up the process of development, but I need something more tailored to my preferences; Instead of paying you the big money for a limited mindset design WHICH I KNOW FOR SURE THAT I WOULD NOT BE LIKING SO MUCH ANYWAY, I am throwing this in the creativity pool where people who enjoy designing and have actual talent get to display their work. I get what I want, they get to sharpen their skills and win/get ideas, you can*t really get creative staring at nothing.

second, get bent and GTFO, maybe find something else better to do with your life....who asked for your opinion anyways?

    Happy new Year!

    bodil4o
I like the one where the article sits on a white background.

left menu..what you did the first time around...with separated divisions, unite those divisions but still keep the div look of ONE consistent menu as instead of one big thing between the top menu and the bottom links. Please change the gray to a 2.0ish blue look

    The top menu
Please try changing the gray to blue, gray is too blunt for me; also gets the eye tired.

    Product on the right
Cut that in half(widthwise) double the height and toss like 4 product thumbnails with titles for every thumbnail

    LOGO area,
    PLEASE MAKE THE BACKGROUND WHITE

I am waiting for the entries bellichi and stella have to submit in the contest. bellichi has nailed the top menu look.

The bottom links, leave the size to what they used to be previously, just change the background to white.

Thanks guys, I will extend this contest to whenever we see the winning entry.

    Happy New Year!

    Hi,

    Here is my revision.
Please note that I used some images in the layout, to simulate its actual appearance when the web come to live, so we would not misjudged between the design and the final coded layout. Any feedback are welcome..

Man, you're an ubber idiot. There's no point arguing with you because you obviously can't think properly nor can you catch on obvious cue points. My advice to you is to get some help or learn to control yourself. I feel sorry for you.

    Stellah you win, congrats.

Please make the whole top Logo area white including the background of the login.

Send me your paypal and we'll sharpen the design in the following days.

Thank you to all for participation and effort, I'll see you in my other contests.
