A while ago, it was risky to accept gambling links in web directories, or to own gambling directories and accept payments with paypal, is this still the case? because i heard that it's now ok with paypal's TOS to accept gambling links and to do gambling biz in general ? thanks.
I live in the UK and gambling here is not a problem and even though ive been assured that payments for gambling sites submitted through a uk paypal account are fine, i still choose not to accept them through paypal.
piples, how about forwarding those gambling payments to my directories ? just kidding, mmm, i have a french paypal account, does paypal TOS differ from one country to another?
I haven't heard much about that, I know that when I accepted a few awhile back paypal had froze the account until I removed the category. Only thing you can do is try it for awhile and see what happens. Paypal will not shut you out the first time, but if you have been warned already then I wouldn't do it.
I did accept gambling listings before without any prob in paypal years ago However, I decided not to take any of them for quite some reasons including paypal concern.
Im not 100% sure but its possible that they go by the individual countries laws regarding gambling or other businesses/matters.
It is simply a problem with phpLD script disclosing all the data to them. We took care of it long time ago. It is simply none of their business. They should be happy that you are using them and they are making money off of you.
No i think its more about the payment processing companies protecting themselves against serious crimes involving money, from money laundering to illegal porn and everything in between. The laws differ so much around the world, from country to even regions of a country and paypal and the others are only keeping themselves outta trouble by having the restrictions in place. It simply becomes too messy for them if they dont, i imagine it would be very costly for them too if they got caught up in a messy financial situation. They are trying to protect a name and reputation i think.
Yes, but I doubt that Directory Owners are laundering money so my suggestion was simply this: don't let PP know what link is being submitted - simply change the code to: Link #. Perfectly legal. I don't believe that PP has a requirement or a policy that you disclose the URL address of the submitted link.
this will not work, when my ppl account was frozen, i was hiding the submitted links already, a rep from my paypal actually visited the website and then he made a list of categories that he wanted me to remove, not only the gambling categories but also the online pharmacy category and a sex toys shopping category..
So how did they know which directory the link came from? Did the purchase list: "Link in abc(dot)com Directory?"
absolutely no idea how they did it, no i didn't have the directory name in the purchase title, but i assume they have ways to know the referrer website and track where the transactions come from, otherwise people will be able to sell everything from porn to pills with paypal..
I dont think paypal has that strict of a policy with gambling related websites..there are casino related items being bought and sold off of eBay and paypal is a sub.
