The most important thing is to not give it. It's good to see that you haven't given up yet. The best way to learn is through your mistakes. All the other guys are correct. You can buy tons of products, but what I found is that most of them only give you 1% of what these gurus actually do. You best sources of information will be these types of forums where you can ask the questions that you want to know and get an answer for free or a couple of good high ranking blogs where you can get information for free. Keep at it. You'll get there.
The problem with forums like this one is there is a load of crap to weed through first and it takes a while before you find the 'golden nuggets'.... sometimes you need a good guide that can show you step by step what you have to do otherwise it takes so long and I can see why so many give up....
I think the important thing is to pick something you love doing and do it well. You could continue to buy hundreds of ebooks, etc, but if you don't sit down and first figure out what you want to do, then you will not succeed with anything. Many people get burned because they get excited about an idea, spend money to buy the tools, then two days later they give up because they expected to make money within 24 hours and it didn't happen. So start somewhere. Just do your research. Find a good niche and setup a blog or something where you can sell affiliate products, etc. Good luck.
That is true, but if Dandy asks the questions it will be much easier. I agree that you can spend hours in these forum if you are just looking for random information, but if you come here and you know what the questions are that you have, it's much easier to get the information.
I also agree with you that you need a good guide. The best guides that I've had were all for free. And yes, I didn't find them in forums, but I did find them at blogs. Forums are useful if you just have a quick question that you want answered as it's highly likely somebody will know the answer or can point you in the right direction
Like the other poster said, there are still a lot of trustworthy people out there. The biggest problem is finding the ones who know what they are talking about. You have way too many who say to do things that do not work, like, signatures, link building (link building could work, but it is not that effective anyway), Twitter.... All they basically do is repeat the same ol' shit they hear from others. Your best bet is to first ask for samples, tips to show they know what they are talking about. Also, ask if they are having the same results. For example, many "gurus" pitch the ever so tiresome thing of seo. Are THEY on the first or second page of the most typed-in keywords??? Is this traffic equalizer ranked high? What makes them or anyone such an authority on any subject they are selling? Ask questions! Do research on them! Do a search on their name to see if they have had any bad reviews. And, no, free information is not the best. I mean, how far has that gotten you? If you want the good stuff, you are going to have to buy it.
Are you looking for help with your existing websites (if any) or do you need help with getting started in online business?
1) People who are REALLY successful don't "follow" other people or programs, they develop their own systems. 2) Whenever you are thinking of buying or signing up for a certain mailing list or program, think to yourself: "why is the seller doing this?" Most of the time, a system offers to teach you how to make thousands of dollars and costs you $49 or $99 or $299 or whatever the case may be. You have to ask "if someone could really make thousands of dollars that easily, why would they tell you how to do it for such a low price?" The reason is usually because the system doesn't work. People who know how to make lots of money don't want anyone else knowing their secrets.
These so called gurus are all smoke and mirrors. Why write books giving your secrets away? I make a very healthy living online and have done for close to 8 years now. No, I would never give secrets away that have took years to discover.
Buying information online is what keeps all of us in business. After a while you tend to know which product are going to be beneficial to you, and which ones will not.
Well I thank you all for your input. Have had much good advice. What I gotta say bout honest folks, had a fraud charge denied by my bank today. A Korean outfit hacked my card and got me for $566plus pennies. Said the Koreans had my password so I must have made the purchase. ??? Visa card with a password? Not. Off topic, I know, but just pissed me off. What I get for buying so called helping products on line. Any way, thank you all for you helpful words. Still be Damned if I`ll quit. Now got to make back that $566. Motovation?? I guess, but could use little less { can`t spell either} Will be here. With more questions, Thanks all, Michelle and Dim specially, all you guys helped this newbie.
Possibly the very best answer in this thread. Twiiter is full of people telling you they have the best money making sytem. 99.9% BS. They make money alright. From the people who sign up for their scams.
If you want to find good ideas read the posts here. There are tons of them and they are free. A hint for you. Anytime someone claims to have secret ideas that will make you a ton of money....Run as fast as you can. There are no secrets. Virtually every ebook or system I have bought over the years is already on the net somewhere for free. It is always in another format or way of presenting it, but it is there. They may have a new slant on it or a different way of doing it. But if they claim they have secrets to make you tons of money. They lie. Be wary of people who have sigs with the latest and greatest money making ideas. I am not talking about blogs, websites or services. I am talking make a fortune in 30 days type. They are not new or secret. They are just trying to sell their product.
They aren't gurus. They are failed webmasters trying to work you over to make a buck for themselves. They have pretty much nothing unique to tell you, and almost everything they know was plucked from the forums (which isn't saying much because advanced concepts are not discussed out in the open). There are some key warning signs: - Photos of luxury cars, beaches and large homes. - A huge amount of text on a single page that would take forever to read. - Specific earnings claims such as "Make $100,000 per month!" - Promises of a better life. In other words, they are trying to sell you a lifestyle change instead of training you. They are selling you a dream. The fact is that the skills to be a real webmaster take years to build. The path is rather simple, but extremely time consuming. Very few people are willing to put the work into it. It is totally impossible to reach this level just buying some ebooks or videos and then putting their info to work. They aren't telling you enough to do jack squat.
You have to realize that most people who are in the "Making Money Online" either are making a lot of money and will just feed you any crap they want, or have no idea how to make money online but are faking it very well. The only way to make money online is hard work, so don't even bother putting money into get rich quick schemes or e-books, they never help. Just focus on your websites or blogs, keep building backlinks and traffic and it will all pay off in the end.
Yeah, I forgot to mention those people in my post. They ramp their name up online among fellow webmasters and create the illusion that everything they have to say is pure gold.
The internet is a scam. people don't really make money on it lol, but seriously.. The guy in the beginning who said making money on the internet comes down to 2 things.. Traffic + Conversion.. was right on the money. it really is that simple. "People who are REALLY successful don't "follow" other people or programs, they develop their own systems." I agree.. and disagree. True success does come in just focusing on 1 thing, doing more of it, and learning as you go.. (Screw other people's #'s & data. Test something and let the #'s tell ya whether it works or not, and take it from there..) But on the other hand, you can waste YEARS of your life trying to blaze your own path & reinvent the wheel and get NOWHERE. and why should you when there are already countless paths and guaranteed proven systems that have already worked for countless people? Successful people do what's already PROVEN, do what works.. do more of it.. and then just IMPROVE on it =) Want to make money online? Here's how. Find out what you're passionate about, what excites you, and what interests you. Find someone who is already making money doing something in a way you want to... If you're excited about Cat sweaters and love the idea of paid traffic.. Find the cat sweater PPC kingpin.. do what he does, then look to ways on how you can IMPROVE it, provide even more value, make your money =)
i guess in a perfect world we could band together and make a carp load of money without ripping anyone off
