I found three guys want to sell their PR5 directory. "SevenSeek Web Directory",the owner asked for $90,000. "www.buzznick.com " the BIN is $1500 "www.webdesignerstuff.com " Looking for offers above $500 I'm very confused for the price, what do you think about it?
Lots of variables to consider with some here 1 Age of site 2 Traffic 3 Revenue 4 Value say somewhere between 9 - 12 months times monthly revenue, maybe up to 15 times for exceptional quality site and a whole raft of other factors to consider too many to list here But these are just a few to consider
PR has nothing to do with the asking prices, in particular the first one with $90,000 price tag. It's all about revenue., which when you think about, is obviously a much better measurement of a site's worth than PR.
Actually the first one is selling at 30k not 90k. And yes it is about revenue, a pr3 directory that makes more than a pr5 is worth more. Edit to add: If anyone looks just at PR and is interested in buying a PR6 directory I will gladly sell him mine for just $50k
Also its because of many other factors, who were the owners (their reputation, job, age etc...), the design, what was the time taken building the categories and all the aforementionned factors
Where is this published? Anyone knows what is the revenue for this directory, and also important what is monthly expense on rented links and promotion? It's a free market you are free to ask whatever you want when the transaction is made the market price is established.
Couldn't have said it better myself. PR0 and making $5,000 a day is better than PR8 and making $2,000 a day. You'd never know it though, from the way webmasters carry on about PR.
Great directory. I think it's hard to boost the PR of a directory to 6.You know alivedirectory is only PR4. So I think your directory should more expensive thant that one
You can, if you know marketing. You can make millions per year with a PR0 directory. There were some folks with a few DMOZ clones, sending emails to the email address listed on the whois warning websites owners that their listings would expire if they didn't renew. They made millions per year. It's called marketing.
Hi John Thanks for putting the thread straight ..............100% Marketing is the #1 factor on whether a site will bring in revenue
Perceived value is everything in the directory business… Promotion is essential. I think Chris is promoting alive to much, google just gets confused with so many links popping at the same time from different places.
I would still like to know what you guys mean when you say promoting a directory. From what I can tell is that means buying up a bunch of featured listings on other directories. But that only targets a certain group such as webmasters and maybe a few other directories. I think we all know that directories are only good for pr and anchor text that is why they are there. I do not expect to too get much traffic from them. So again what is heavy promotion for a directory. I will pay to be listed in a directory that is going to provide me with a good chance to rank higher in the serps and hopefully boost my page rank. I think that once you get those then the traffic will come on its own because everyone will see that your directory has something valuable to offer, which is what we all are looking for, higher serps higher pr. That is what make any direcotry valueable to me.
No one expects any exceptional traffic directorys. You sometimes get some traffic if you have a directory in another good one.
