Part of my job is to monitor up and coming sites and see how they are growing in comparison to other sites. One thing I noticed was amazing growth in one company which is not normal for their industry. Links are growing at an amazing 20,000 plus per month and they also seem to generate 10,000 plus pages. That many links can't all be natural. Any ideas on how there pulling this off. Just two years ago they were under 50,000 links, I have looked at some of the inbound links but so far I have not found a clear common thread. Here is the current info from site explorer now showing 549,411 inbound links! http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/search?p=testfreaks.com&bwm=i&bwmo=d&bwmf=s
I took a look and found this page that indicates they are in a group of people who submit content to each others sites hence boost the number of links. http://www.techreviewsource.com/content/view/227/1/ this site alone has 36,678 pages equaling 36,678 backlinks and there are 16 others in the group if they all have similar webpages this is a possible way they are getting the large amount of backlinks every month. this site http://www.pureoverclock.com has 12,981 with the Test Freaks in "friends category", possibly blogroll? The list goes on. To get this information I used www.backlinkwatch.com and yahoo site explorer.
backlinks from your own site carry link juice. Having a diversity of sources is best howoever, and .edu and .gov links are the best.
edu and gov links do have value but the only way is to pay someone who has access tot hese sites to put just 1 link on a page will cost you BIG time! I have heard of $2,000 per month for a PR7 gov link - could you justify this?
