How are page impressions calculated? I know that when someone comes to my site and loads a page that counts as 1. But what about reloading the same page? Say I have 5 pages, if a user goes to all 5 pages would that count as 5 impressions? I doubt bots count as impressions. Anything else I am missing? Such as when a page impression doesn't count. Oh and I know Adsense doesnt pay for impressions.
For AdSense its the number of times ad is loaded on a page. AdSense does pay for impressions for CPM ads.

Refreshes wouldn't really count for your impressions. They usually will only count for the first time the ad loads for that IP address. Yugo,
I think you're right, page visits are what count, not unique visitors, but adsense might also discount some page visits from the total, we don't know for sure as with many things in adsense's algorithm.
Thats for sure. Its amazing how much we don't know but Adsense still remains strong. I see as little as 10-20 cents cpm for impressions. Ho much does Google see..
I just made a check on both adsense and analytics for one of my websites. Apparently the impressions count from AdSense is lot more then the impression count on Analytics. So I think its safe to say impression on adsense means how many times the ad loads.
