If the script was responsible then everyone would use the same script.

Why PR3 or more, i keep seeing strange suggestions of having a certain pr means earnings.

I will get straight to the point, very hard, expect to be disappointed, i suggest that you do something else.

@op if running a directory only means profits and earnings to you then perhaps you should just follow pipes and do something else... the directory field takes a lot of hard work and might not give enough returns at the end,

however, if you have the passion to run a directory, stop worrying about the pr or any other 3rd party rankings and have fun running your own web directory :)

My directory is PR3 but I haven't got any paid review submissions for it. I am not concerned at all as I made a directory because I love it, not because of money.

You should say "Running a directory profitable?", since running phpld and other script directories are the same. To make a directory profitable, it takes some time and work.

My directory (in my signature) is pr4 and 3 years old, and can only make around $50 per month (maybe because it's free and featured links only charge $2.99).

Main source is like featured links and other ad space.

Don't run it for Money run it for quality then automatically money flows in

I Thinks PHP LD Directory is not the Profitable venture i already have 3 Php LD directories one has 2 PR and Other two has 3 PR but i hardly get Featured Links in my directory my Earnings from Google Adsense mainly but you should have to maintain your directory if you created it's.

From a purely monetary perspective, I do think that directory business is profitable. However, it takes a lot of hard work, willingness to learn, patience and ethics to create and run one. What many seem to fail to understand that this "buying a high PR domain and making it a directory" scheme DOES NOT WORK. Before I started to run mine, I knew it'd be hard work...and it actually turned out to be harder than I was prepared for, but it was and still is worth it :)

I recently purchased phpLD license and now I'm struggling to get it installed (for over a week:mad:). The support is also a bit slow in response.
Shouldn't software be up and running? All these trouble shootings are hidden cost to me.
I still hope they'll sort it out. I'd rather spend this time wasted now to built the directory.

I would suggest you purchase $5 support. It is helpful.

PR3 ~ 50$/mo sounds about right, 50$ is very good i think, more likely averaging 30-40$ / mo. directory stuff isnt what it used to be anymore.
