I am a college student who is trying to earn enough from working on the internet to at least partially support myself by the time I graduate (3 years). I spent all my summer holiday to make my first and only site; http://www.softwareindex.org . I don't kown how to make money online(may be adsense is a good method). The most thing is that I don't konw how to promote my ugly site. The most key thing is that I don't have enough time to do these exciting job. If some buddies can help me do these things,I am gland to share my ad revenue to them. thanks.

Your site is not ugly at all, it is just too many links. I think you are right, your first and best choice is to apply for Adsense. Have you applied yet? and the next thing is to submit your link to directories to get some traffic.

How is the traffic of your site?

I would suggest your oganize those links under one category each. This way it will look cleaner and people will have an easy time finding the software they need.

Your links are way too small and needs to be seen but your site is far from being ugly. Good luck!

I jus visited ur site. not so bad.
but who stopped u in having a lengthy page. jus make the links in double line space.
Also put a link "Contact me" in your website. then only some one can call you/visit u to help u sort out things if at all it needs to be sorted out.

I suspect that most of your traffic will be to sub-pages from search engines, as people search for specific types of software. Spend some time doing SEO on your site, and focus on keywords that will bring people to your site (e.g. download anti-virus software).

    Cryo.

Man, your website is not ugly at all. When I first came to it, I thought that it was a software directory maintained by pros!

You will have some issues though.

I think that you`ve picked a wide niche, and you won`t have easy times on SE-s.

However, you can still make great money by putting adsense on your web pages.

The home page looks too crammed with links. I would make it less sparse, which will make it easier to digest the information.

Add some H1,h2,h3 tags on the most basic pages. There are no tags on pages like this: http://www.softwareindex.org/MP3-Audio-CD-Burners.htm

After you get some on-page SEO, pay $10-20 to have your site submitted to 200+ directories. There are many people here on DP that will do it. This will increase your one way links and your SERPs.
