    This probably means that you will see much more spam these days. But it will probably not last very long, especially if you report the emails as spam.

    Quite brilliant scheme on the part of the scammer.

    The link present in the mail seems to me to be the affiliate type. The guy that sent the email probably gets 2 or 3 cents for every click. With a database of around 300.000 emails, this could add up to a lot of money.

    Spammers do get a piece of the cake in the end, otherwise they would stop their shady practices.
