Here it's more than 1 year and a half since I add my website on Dmoz France in the right category i'm still not validated question may be stupid: Dmoz is it still active?
Yep still very much active. However there is no time scale for when a suggested site is reviewed by an editor. You have therefore done all you can do. If your site is listable, it will be listed as and when an editor reviews it. When that will be, no one knows.
Be careful asking for editors to do work for you. Bribes get an instant ban on the site for life and for any editor that takes the money. You have been advised correctly, there is nothing more you can do at DMOZ. You ave suggested a site, thank you, but it is only a suggestion. We do not offer to list any site, we are not a listing service, we do not offer to list every site that meets our terms and conditions. Every suggested site waits in the pool until one of our voluntary editors, working in their spare time, offers to work in that area and chooses to use the suggestions pool. It is only one of the resources we use. No one can predict when that will happen it can be from a few days to a few years. Just to add re suggesting your site can be detrimental and can lead to you being treated as a spammer and banned.
I have also had the same question as you.. I have submitted carefully.. correct category, description.. since the beginning of this year.. but actually nothing.
Submit and forget. If your site is listable it will get listed when it is reviewed. When that may be, no one knows.
Sorry to tell you guys, but if you read the stickie at the top you would realise that DMOZ does not claim to be a listing service. You give your site a better chance by finding the right category, but there is no guarantee when a site will be reviewed. We have always said that we will not undertake to review sites in good time and that no site is guaranteed a place in DMOZ. If you read around the posts on here you will see why that is true.
Why not just tell them why it's true? Some editors only list their own sites, sites of friends, or the sites they are paid to list (however, many of these editors are found out & banned) Some editors do not EVER bother with the suggestion pool, meaning that if you have submitted, then *shrug* your only hope of getting it reviewed is to have some random editor with higher permissions to stumble across your site and add it themselves. You could however, apply to an editor and get your site listed that way. After all, the ODP was founded on listing one's own sites (deeplinks are OK for editor sites as well!!!) Editors claim on Digital Point that the ODP is NOT a listing service, however, they ARE a service, and they list sites, so no clue how it's not...but then, they can't be wrong can they?
Some editors sadly list their own site and a couple of others and then find an excuse and leave, and then keep complaining in forums like this that editors are corrupt and DMOZ is founded on self interest.
Criteria is unique content rich sites. Does not matter about PR, age, Alexa listing or anything else. Bur we are not a listing service and we do not seek to list every site suggested.
Well, why don't you put what you are doing in some content? Like for example I say: DMOZ directory is listing service and you replace words "listing service" with words that will define your actions. LOL man, I'll bet you meant to say not long enough Nice to see you too fastreplies
lol 1 years I have seen lots of people who said their site was not even listed in 3 years. Still you will get information that it may not have been reviewed. The best solution, if it is not listed that is to feel you were not lucky and forget the things. lol
Well, it was clear you were talking about me, so how about you put my leaving back into context? If you are going to call people on taking things out of context, the very least you could do is no do it yourself. And funny you mentioned someone else banned. If it's all the same, why not tell the fine folks here about your own bannings from Digital Point. It was certainly not because you have a knack for following guidelines! Now lets put something you have said and put it into context... Like Topix? A site with nearly 20k deep links of SYNDICATED content. So yeah, come again on what is the criteria?
