I use FF and IE8. I have to use IE8 cause I live in South Korea and many websites here work properly in IE only. IE8 might be more standards compliant than before, but FF and even Safari still do a better job here. It is faster than before, but still FF is doing a better job here, even with installed extensions. Security is one of the big issus for the IE and it ever will be.

I am glad to see that in Europe FF finally has more users than the IE. I hope this will continue all over the world.

I like WIN 7 and IE 8 but when it comes to designing it has differences... overall I can see myself using it after 6 months when WIN 7 is more stable.

I can't agree with you because Mozilla Firefox is the best browser I have ever used before. Firefox is more powerful.

First of all let me say I"m a Firefox fan, so perhaps I'm less than objective, but frankly Feran I'm a bit concerned with the tentacles that MSIE seems to have in everything and the bloated feeling that it has. I"ve never had a crash with Firefox, but I do with IE all the time.

Security issues on IE are legendary and I dont' honestly expect 8 to be any better. At the risk of putting you on the spot, tell me WHY it's better and run us a comparison to the features of Firefox that will give us reasons to change course and I'd honestly consider it, but like another of the posters here, each time I ask for a line by line comparison, I get a vague answer with minimal real information.

So from one of the IE users out there, give me the straight dope. What makes you think its more secure and a better run than Firefox?

    I can agree with this.

I can't agree with that though...

Having a web browser that is not compliant and making a page within compliance are two completely different things. I pretty much only know basic HTML, and basic HTML should work in ANY browser....yet when I find that one browser is not showing something correctly, it is IE in MOST instances. So if anyone is HTML challenged, its Microsoft!

I still haven't tried IE 8 yet, but I think that Firefox is better. I know that IE has improved a lot since version 6, the last one I used, but there is still sour taste of it in my mouth.
In my case: Firefox for the win.

I agree with the WP poster. I use WP for most of my sites as well as build and skin and sell them. IE views of them stinks in a lot of cases without extra tweaking.

Firefox is just a hands down winner. It's faster out of the gate, has fewer tentacles and frankly to me it seems like IE gets more and more.. geared toward .. shall we diplomatically say.. less browser knowledgable people. One thing I hate about it is the contant reminders and pop ups and checking up on me.. Assuming you're an idiot is something the boss does, not your software.

I am an MS affiliate but the truth is that some of their products are just too proprietary and every little thing has to be paid for. I think that Firefox is just better. It's faster, cleaner and its less unwieldy than MS.

As to MS getting virus hand over fist, well that much is true but in their defense, they do seem to be the more popular browser for whatever reason, which also makes them a bigger target. Then too, there is the added incentive of patch-Tuesday for the IE folks.. Gives them something to look forward to..:D

Both Internet Explorer and Firefox are full of bloat.
Slow moving resource hogs the both of them.

I've been using Opera more and more it seems.

Basic HTML works in any major browser. You see browser differences not with HTML, but with CSS and JS.

I've never seen any straight HTML that has display problems in any major browser. The only time I've ever seen browser differences in general is when the webmaster deliberately goes out of his way to code in esoteric and unusual HTML so that it looks poorly in one specific browser, on purpose. Unless the webmaster's skills really suck - like making incorrectly defined tables or not using closing tags.

Of course, there's always the OBJECT tag. It's a standard HTML tag supported by IE and Chrome but strangely is NOT supported by Firefox - it's a blatant example of where Firefox/Netscape is not HTML standard complaint. That means that, because FF chooses to not comply with the standard, and instead use the EMBED tag (which is not part of the standard), anyone putting Flash in their webpages has to add additional bloat.

Qryztufre, can you tell me exactly, what "basic HTML" (your words) are you using that "is not showing something correctly" in IE???

Absolutely false! Firefox fully supports the object tag and always has.
