Why? a simple whois query determine your original location (If you don't mislead it).

Incorrect. If you have a warez site on a United States dedicated server and you receive a DMCA notice, you are only required to remove the infringing content. Also, the DMCA notice must be sent by someone that is entitled to act for the company of which you are infringing their copyrights. No one can completely shut down your website unless the data center does it, or if you get big enough and cause enough ruckus that the authorities get involved.

what everyone needs to understand is that warez sites have been around for a long time. well before the forums have. before warez was traded via ftp. and it wasnt until a couple of years back when forums started to come alive. so warez has been around for some time. as far as the godaddy part if they receive a letter they will advise you to take down the copyright material or kidnap your domain. and no it doesnt matter where you live the owner of phaze lives in the us. or hosted there are some sites that are hosted in the us.

So your saying nomatter where you live if you host your site and domain in a country without law your safe?
Now I wonder, what if you use a ad company in the usa, wouldn't they ban you?

    And what about paypal?
    Just curious

i would assume so... otherwise they could be taken down too.

I supposed most people don't take down domains, because your not really hosting anything on a domain. A domain name is simply a pointer to where the actual material is posted or stored on....

but I suppose taking it down would work.. but whats the point?

They could use a domain server in china say a name.cn? then what?

Warez sites don't get caught, because if it is shut down, then another opens up. It's really a never ending battle...

I state how it is... thinking ethically. If your ethics are proper, then thats what matters at the end of the day.

Every domain goes through ICANN (since they are in charge of international domain registration). If they get a letter they will just delete the domain from the registry. Another thing some of you are misleading others with, just because I host things off shore doesn't mean I'm clear. If I'm living in a country with laws then I must abide by those too. Merely taking my hosting offshore doesn't rid me of that. I'm still conducting illegal activity and can still be prosecuted/sued.
