Traffic Exchanges... What has been your experience?

I am really curious here, because for what seems like forever there has been a divide in internet marketing.
Traffic exchange traffic and then everything else. With traffic exchanges getting a bad rep as a traffic source.

If you have ever used traffic exchanges what is your take on em? Good, bad, hate em, love em, not sure?

Really looking forward to getting some feedback on this, interested more so in the thoughts and opinions of those
dissatisfied with traffic exchanges and why.

This is not meant to be a debate on why traffic exchanges are good opposed to bad, I just really want to understand
the mindset of those who disregard them.

The sites you have listed are all big exchanges and logic would suggest the bigger the better.

    WRONG

The bigger the TE the smaller the number of click throughs you get to your site.

It is my experience that I get far more peole actually clicking through to my sites from the smaller exchanges.

its always good way to get more traffic to site by trade it, by its only for some niche like adult content sites, I dont think that for mainstream sites is helpfull also

A little off topic, but ok. If you are talking about swapping traffic with other site owners of the same niche, then yes that is a great tactic.

Also, that is a great way to build up relationship with the site owners :)

    Can't go wrong with networking.

Yup, don't disagree, it is indeed a great way to network and get traffic to your websites.

Now as far as traffic exchanges go...

Traffic exchanges can ban your website in search engines? I don't think so, that is not correct.

Although if you use Adsense on your website and promote it in a traffic exchange your Adsense account can be banned because Google does not
allow Adsense to be rotated in frames. Most traffic exchanges state this
in their TOS or FAQ sections of their site.

If you have a website that you care about and are serious about, you go not want to use a TE. If you do, be sure to put up your page as no index, no follow.

Common sense tells you that anyone who sits there for hours at a time to click on ads for "points" does not have a clue as to how to do any kind of IM. Getting thousands of visitors a day from people like this will make you a big fat zero.

If you belong to any program that recommends you use TE's, you need to leave real quick cause you already blew some cash, and will continue to do so:)) Think about it. Who else sits there for hours at a time clicking on stupid ads thinking they are doing something? Only the people who don't have a clue as to what is going on.

    Just my opinion...

Good point, so that would possibly be people who need the right direction then?

Would it be safe to say that offering people who would click for hours and look at sites something that they would be interested in and better yet purchase if they felt it could give them a clue as to what they should be doing online to earn income?

Maybe that is a clue as to what would get the best response from advertising in traffic exchanges...

    You got it JohnGuanzon!!
Many of those type people will end up signing up for every free thing offered to them.

I never understood the purpose of a TE. The only thing I could see is that it is just another place to sucker newbies into with the hopes of them signing up for stuff they don't need and wasting their money and time. I mean you certainly do not want to ever put up one of your sites that your care about on a TE. It might boost your traffic statistics up, but not make you any sales. You want targeted traffic, not big numbers. Don't think Google thinks too much of them so what good are they?

So if you offer them something that is worth their time and it helps them make money. Then I assume it wouldn't be too hard to sell something to them that would further help them succeed.

I think so. But I would not advertise a sales page on there unless you are a master of writing sales pages:))

I haven't had much luck with them. Traffic exchanges seem to be good for getting referrals to get-paid-to click sites and other traffic exchanges.

Getting sales to convert haven't been that great.

    Think about it like this:

Do you ever buy anything while surfing traffic exchange for credits?
Why will anyone do different for your site? ;)

TE is good only if you want to higher up your site ranking in alexa..
I used TE on one of my sites which it doesn't have Adsense..
and it worked nicely. the rank is getting down everyday..
I don't care about targeted traffic as long as im using it for only one reason..
anyway, when people see the rank of your site is high. they will trust your products, services etc..
that's my opinion and talkin from experience ;)
