Yes you are right... they will find new clients who fall for it... and that is my point entirely....those webmasters who find that junk may lose their money falling for such a ploy......... nothing more nothing less just hate seeing people misinformed or ripped off...... seems like a friggin sin here at DP to be concerned for others,,,,,,
If you aren't doing linkbait, you aren't a qualified SEO. Period. I tried to restrain myself here, but you guys are just plain ridiculous. The world of SEO is so much broader than writing fantastic content and soliciting high quality links. People want to be entertained. In the last 6 months, Virante has used linkbait methods (just like other major SEO's are doing like SEOMoz) to bring hundreds of thousands of qualified visitors, and thousands of links, to our clients' sites. While this is not the world's premiere example of high quality SEO, it is a fantastic example of a company's ability to market itself - which is a strong indication of its ability to market our clients' companies online as well. I am going to leave this forum and not come back for a while because I am so disgusted with the response. NOTE: For all of you who saw this and though. "Wow, that was a cool idea". You are the ones who will succeed online. You are the ones who will also come up with cool, new ideas to sell yourself, your company, and your clients. You will not rely on the dying tried-and-true.
Looks at the $XX,XXX + in his bank accounts.... from being online and not succeeding .....hopes rjonesx will take pity and send money.... Dont go away mad.....just go away lol.....
This forum has so many members there are always going to be some who disagree or who don't quite understand what somebody is saying. There are a lot of people who have read about this but haven't bothered to comment for one reason or another. That doesn't mean they don't appreciate the idea of linkbait.
Totally agree but what gives rjonesx the audacity to claim if you are not doing linkbait you are not an qualified SEO ??? What a pompous arrogant ignorant thing to say.... Does Bruce Clay link bait???? I doubt it and he is one of the top SEOs if ever there was one.... rjonesx has made one of the most assinine statements anyone has ever made.... I am wondering where he got his SEO certification and who came up with such a joke.....
You need to chill and drop the aggression, it was a nice idea, novel and an inventive way to show that they have at least a grasp & decent understanding of seo, it is also advertising and it worked, good job It has less to do with seo and more to do with link-bait/advertising and I enjoyed it.
Aggression ??? lol ummm ok I give up.....no matter what I post it is wrong...... though his crying and whining and inane remarks are given no thought... Out
DP is #9 for the query, and this thread isn't even indexed yet. It's from being mentioned in the "Similar Threads" section. -Michael
I wonder when this thread on Five Seo Excuses is going to get indexed.. That'll be fun to watch, to bad I won't remember the Five Seo Excuses later and i'll have to search for "Five Seo Excuses".
Hmmm, is it a grassroots seo contest already? Even if this DP thread does get the top spot for the term "Five SEO Excuses", it is nothing unless it can take up 5 spots or more. Google engineers are probably pondering on what the hell is going on right now. Everyone should take a screen grab to immortalize the search results.
Okay, I must have dissapointed the gods, as all of my posts have been delted, I've removed my signature link to the topic of this thread, and repented...
A wise man once said...if you got an extra link spot not used in your signature, add a Five SEO Excuses link!!!
Who cares??? Your blog post on the Automat return to NYC is much more interesting and deserved of attention,,, than this "cheap trick" I think I will have to take a run in and see whats up for myself....I moved into Philly when the last Horn & Hardts?? (sp) closed.... always wanted to go.... Thanks for the cool blog info!
Thanks for reading, I added a picture of the restaurant's inside. Now I feel guilty about blogging the excuses.
I can see this catching on. In a month or two, everyone will have their own versions up on an obscure keyphrase, for the sake of impressing inexperienced SEO clients. This version probably won't last more than a few days, but what will it spark off? As long as you have an obscure phrase, it's not so bad since it won't mean crowding other sites out of the results. Problems will start when this gets out of hand, because the subdomain trick is pretty spammy in itself. The "You should switch to Virante" bit is so subtle it's almost subliminal. I don't know whether or not I should be disturbed by that. Very Derren Brown.
