Using Search Campaigns and CJ

    Hi everyone,

I never used adwords when advertising, but I want to test it out. I'm looking at all the rules for bidding and it looks almost impossible. None of these advertisers are allowing any keywords related to their website or business name. How can I possibly attract targeted traffic when I can't use these crucial keywords? I suppose it may depend on the type of business and niche. Is it me, or am I looking at this differently?

I would like to create a fictional example. Lets say I want to target a coupon site. For eg, I want to promote godaddy coupons. I would never be able to accomplish this b/c I can't promote the word "godaddy" in any of my ads.

godaddy: (All trademark and brand terms of "Go Daddy". All misspellings and varations are also restricted. Examples of which are: go daddy, godaddy, godaddy.com)

How would I be able to promote this? maybe, I would be able to use keywords like "host coupons", but it's not targeted for a subpage offering something specific. I noticed when I type in google "godaddy coupons", I see ads for hostmonster coupons. Are these people creating hostmonster ads with godaddy keywords?

How does CJ exactly know what keywords your campaigns are targetting? As long as those keywords are not in the ad title and description, should it be ok?

    This is interesting....

Can any experts please chime in...

    Thanks

It is definitely not getting easier. This is why you need to really work the Adwords Keyword tool to find related phrases you can use. In some niches the cost and saturation are simply too high. That's just the way it is. Big business sat back and watched the internet grow, they grew on the backs of free affiliate labor, and when they no longer need you they just get rid of you.

If AdWords is a joke & scam, I guess the last $100k+ I spent on AdWords must have been a waste of money. If AdWords is a scam, why is Google so damn profitable? Wouldn't companies stop spending money on AdWords if it lost them money?

Just because you suck at search marketing doesn't mean it's a scam.

of course nearly all merchants will not let you bid on their brand/domain names and misspellings, as you're not bringing any extra value to them, you're just getting the last click and the sale. Who would want that?

You have to target the products the affiliate sells. So for go daddy, you would bid on "register domain name" or "buy hosting" or something generic. But, these terms will be very very competitive so go for the really long tail keywords. u'll get less volume, but it should convert better
