Can anyone tell me if scrolling title tags affect the SEO efforts, considering the fact that a title tag is the most important aspect wit:confused with regard to meta tags?:confused. I came across a scrolling title tag on this website's homepage citiusonline.com
But have you noticed that the title is exceeding the 63-70 limit. I wonder how that is acceptable in this case by Google! That way we can have long titles, cant we?
You can have as long of a title tag as you want, but check this out. I just searched for that site's url in Google and this is what shows as their title tag:
There is no hard limit according to Google. The limit of 65 is just a guideline and is used because that is all that Google can display in the SERPs (because of formatting restrictions) without truncating it. You can have an 80 character title and Google will still consider ALL of the characters of the title when ranking your page. I'm not suggesting that you do because such titles generally are targeting too many keyword phrases. And if it gets too long, it could be considered spammy. @OP The scrolling <title> is NOT a problem from an SEO perspective. If you view the source then you would see that the search engines see: which is a normal (although I'd say their title sucks... it looks more like what you'd find in a meta description.) They are using JavaScript to scroll it: and MOST search engines ignore JavaScript. Google is reading JavaScript now to some degree, but mainly to find embedded links in the JavaScript for page discovery purposes.
Seems a bit quirky and annoyed me as a user - plus, like was said earlier, Google will take a random section of the title and this is what your potential customers will see - Scrap the novelty and stay static I say!!!
