Indians - home computers in the 70s and 80s?

There probably aren't too many Indians on DP old enough to answer this... but I'll ask anyway.

I'm just wondering what kind of home computers were being used in India during the late 70s and early 80s?
Did anyone have one as a kid? Did your parents have one? Did your school have one?

I think there won't be anyone to use computers as desktop... At that period there was a improvement from radio to television and no market place for computers and all.... and slowly in late 90's computers begin their share in markets.

I had one 386 computer running MS DOS system. It has Windows 3.1, but it didn't work properly. It was extremely slow and the screen was usually black and white. However, you could change colors in the BIOS.

Today, computers have become faster and powerful but the adoption rate is really low in India.

I do not think many Indians would have heard about the computers in early 80s. I myself became aware of it only in the late 80s when my dad purchased one for his company!
