Google Index Removal

    Hi Guys,

I am in shock at the min. I am the webmaster for a car insurance company. For the last 4 months we have ranked in the top 10 for car insurance. This morning however I cannot find my website any where for the keyword car insurance. It is as if I have been removed from the google index for that keyword search.

How do I find out if this is the case, google webmaster tools says nothing to me about it. It still thinks I am in the top ten.

On further investigation on why 4+ months work seems to have just disappeared I checked the google site: search to see if my website had been removed from the google index. I got very weird results.

searching "site:www.quoteme.ie" on google i got this:

The front page which has had all the seo link building effort focused on it seems to have been crawled on a https connection!? Cache dated on the 16th.

searching "quoteme.ie car insurance" on google i got this:

It doesn't list it as a https connection and this cache is dated on the 17th but ranks no where for the keywords it ought to rank well for.

Also my pagerank has not dropped so I am going to assume I have not been penalised by google and that there has actually been some sort of bot crawl error?

Has anyone got any advice for me? What should I do? Wait a week or two and see if when google re crawls the website the issue solves itself or is there something obvious I have done wrong.

For a site that is 4 months old, dont worry about it. Your site has not been removed, or else it would not show up with the site: command.

Its perfectly normal for young sites to float around in the google results pages. Do not expect stable rankings until your site is 6 - 8 months old.

The site is 3 years old actually. Its just I had spent 4 months work on getting it and keeping it on the first page for car insurance. We varied between 3rd & 8th for the last 2 months. Now we ain't in the first 35 pages for car insurance. :(

A 3 year old site suddenly disappearing?

Are you logged into your google webmaster tools when you checked your ranking? Sometimes google will display results based on the types of sites you last visited. Be sure to log out of your google account and clear your browser cache to get the real results.

Did you add lots of links in a short amount of time? Such as adding a link to a forum signature where you have several thousand post?

Have you checked yahoo or bing webmaster tools and looked for anything strange, such as being google slammed?

If I had to guess at one thing, it would be your site got google slammed. Meaning, someone built a bunch of backlinks with untargted keywords very quickly.

We suggest wait for Google.com to crawl the website again. This might happen when some minor changes have been done to the website. Probably try checking the meta and robots.txt

Right, google webmaster hasn't picked up on very many new links, or has link diagnosis, or seomoz. Would they not see this sudden rush of links? I say there is a chance 15 news links were generated last week. There was a directory listing I paid to get on that said it would also list the website in its other 247 web directories too. So perhaps you are right.

    Or...

Is it to do with the https thing on for my site? I have gone through many other sites and their main home page is listed without the https connection. You cannot actually get onto my home page on a https connection, there is no certificate for that. There is no link within my website that allows for that. The secured sections of my website are also restricted by the robots.txt file.

    Sir.
I had the same problem for my website.
My website was launched in 2006. so we say about 3 years now.
We did SEO from February 2009..
In July/August period we were in 1st-2nd page.. 2 months passed.. all looks good.
In September. i was shocked.. we were no where to be found in page 10 even.. We were in 55 page somewhere.
in October. we came to 25th.
    Again we came down..

And its december now.. we are still no where above 20th page even in google..

I was really shocked. and disappointed..

I researched alot. and found there is this caffeine thing going on with GOOGLE.. what MATT CUTTS talked about..
He said they are tweaking there servers bla bla..

He said after the holidays (christmas / new year) all things wud be fixed..

    So around January or so.

I dont know if its really that thing or something else.

Other experts.. share your thoughts please..

Had the problem identified on the google webmaster forum as a DNS issue. I will let you know what the outcome is so anyone else on the forum who has an index page SERP meltdown might have an idea of what is causing it.

Looks like the problem was the "google slamming" that was suggested earlier on. Some 748 links were generated to the front page of the website with the same anchor text by an ad service that was only suppose to generate 6 links.

However I still can't figure out why google has on the site: command listed my index page on a https connection.

Thanks very much for everyone who helped.

I think that this problem related to Google Dance or update of Google Database, because i also faced the same problem with my one of the websites.
