Why people use Wordpress why they donlt have knowledge about joomla. It is simple because common users go with easiest way of working. If you dont know about coding you'll chose wordpress, more reason is that lots of plugin easily can be found. But come with programming term why coders want to go with joomla, its coding and syntax is harder than Wordpress. The answer is that coder always go with a pattern work, more managed way, more easy to overcome on the application and clients should satisfy for all the year..... Joomla is very prone to iframe attacks from my personal experience. Another thing I don't like with Joomla is the permalink structure.
Gotta admit I'm very surprised so many folks use wordpress. If they paid attention to what Matt blurts out on occasion or even begin to notice that what he says isn't what he himself does or believes in,folks would be running from the software. Amazes me how poor some folks ethics are.

WP is easy to learn and anyone can handle. wp also has coding work it all depends what r ur skills either u r using joomla or wp. I think ppl love wp becoz: growing platform. easy to use easy to setup low size friendly interface seo optimized web 2.0 is age of blogging and wp was purely blogging platform but now trend is changing and u can use wp as a CMS but yet not as powerful as JOOMLA.
