Directories that are recommended to get listed in in the first place

Having read this forum, I made a conclusion that if you start submitting your web-site to directories, then the main directories where it's recommended to get listed in in the first place would be the following:
Yahoo! Directory
BOTW.org
DMOZ.org
Business.com
then some more quality directories in your niche.

Is it true? Are there any other world directories that are recommended to get listed in?

 

How did you come to this conclusion?

 

There are many quality directories which are important, you only need to search for them and you can start by checking the directories owned by members in this section.

 

Dmoz.org
directory.google.com
dir.yahoo.com

i think thats a huge directory.

 

I don't mean that it's a "must" to be in these directories. But if your budget allows, and you have a serious commercial web-site, it's wothwhile to spend your money on these directories in the first place, than on any other.

Yes i agree that demoz & yahoo directory is top of the list but you can consider many other directories as well if need to expand your web presence.

 

The directories you speak of are top tier directories and certainly worth submitting to. I have a short list of the top paid directories you may want to check out. It has a few other great directories listed.

 

Is paid directory with permanent terms like Business.Com give our site high PR backlinks? because its very expensive...

yes of course, beside inbound link they also can drive your traffic to increase your sales. thats why they put expensive cost.

The funny thing if you got a quality site you may get listed in all of them except for dmoz...but if you dont wanna start your campaign unless you get listed in dmoz, your campaign will probably never start. Aside from what other members have mentioned this is also a list you may wanna have a look at!

Here is a directory list, just filter and sort as you wish. There are big directories in the list.

 

I am not sure how you reached to this conclusion after reading discussions on this forum. Most are premium directory owners who would like you to buy links from their directories (many of these are good directories too).

Yahoo, DMOZ, and some of the more respected directories will help your site in the Google SERPs as you've deduced. The problem is finding other "quality" directories that will pass on some link juice to your site. Start with your niche first. Then you can take one of the various directory lists and start working your way through it to see which directories will help your site (which is different for everyone). To find what will work for your site go to the page in the directory where you'll be listed. Then do a google search for some of the text on the page (or page title, page description, etc.). If that site comes up in google then you know the page is indexed and also ranks for keywords on that page...which will translate to link juice if you get listed on that page. Of course, if the site ranks for keywords that are related to your site it will help you even more.

 

You should add Ezilon.com, Kwika.org and Dirjournal.com in your list as well.
