I personally would go for phpLD as it has a bigger memberbase and support.

If the esyndicat team manages to solve a couple of problems and add just a couple of functions then I could say that it will be the ideal directory script. Now when comparing phpld and site-sift I would go for phpld.

Dint mean that SS is more SEO-Friendly, it passes the PR better to inner pages. Thats what i meant.

If you want to SEO it - try using the word "directory" in the url if you can !

Just a suggestion - works for me.

My vote goes for site-sift listings, check the forums for additional information. Ysf1 (respected member here at DP) made some mods for the directory script that can be found at the forums..

I've found site-sift listings easy to program into my own template style.. Take a look here at dirSpace what I did with the directory script. More examples of the site-sift script in this thread..

Good luck with choosing the script. update us when your directory is ready for launch..

I think that comparing phpLD version 2.0 to Site Sift is a bit unfair. Although Site Sift is still free, it has had many upgrades to become a bit more SEO friendly than phpLD version 2.0

However, phpLD has far surpassed Site Sift in SEO and in functionality with the later releases. The difference being that phpLD now is $25. Well worth the $25 IMO.

Also, as someone who has done templating on both scripts, I highly recommend phpLD. The templating system behind phpLD is far easier to work with than Site Sift, and with all of the free templates available for phpLD, you can surely find something available that you like.

My advice would be to install the free version of phpLD, if it's to your liking and your wanting to make it more robust, go the paid.

Hi Emily, with all of the scripts, your success will depend on the time and effort you put into your directory. I believe can be successful with any of the recommendations. I can personally stand behind phpLD and let you know we will do all we can to make your experience a good one.

Great, thanks for letting me know. Yes, I am the owner, but I prefer to try to think that everyone who uses the script is part of it, because it is the users that have made it what it is today.

I agree with dvduval. We have now used numerous directory scripts ourselves and they all seem the have their pros and cons. I still like WSN myself. ;)

Site Sift Listings has come a long way in the 9-10 months it's been on the market. We are planning the next upgrade and should release it sometime in November. For those of you that have used our script please drop by our forums and leave feedback on what you would like to see in the next script.

The PR flow thing... sounds crazy to me. *sorry* Although I would love to believe our script makes PR flow better... I'm not sure how this would be done. PR is based off of the incoming links and the structure of the website or directory and not the backend.
