I cant seem to boost the rank to anywhere decent with the keywords "Manly Sea Eagles"
    for my site http://www.silvertails.net

Just cant seem to boost it I want to get ont he front page.
Over teh last few days I have implemented better SEF URL's int he forums, will this help?

What other suggestions do you have?

    Daniel

Good point I am planning on re-designing it throughout the off season (2 games left then playoff finals) once that is done I will look at making it smaller with a better css layout to make it churn a bit better.

I am half way down that google page so I just need to keep boosting as before I was about 5 pages in!

Increasing your visibility to Google for your main allinanchor will help - top three would work ;)

I speak from experience - I used to historically be between #1 and 3 for "female celebrities" and I always ranked #1 for the term in SERP with freshdames.com ... however, I've slacked off recently on link building and slipped down in allinanchor (KW specific anchor text links pointing to me using that term) and as such I recently fell to #8 - which equates to a HUGE drop in traffic

I would forget about branding in the title - it only dilutes the importance. Your title should be for the keyword(s) you are trying to rank for i.e. if you are trying to rank for "manly sea eagles", make that your title.

When i was going through ur site , i found too much of java script on it.So, it may be one reson for not boostingup ur ranking. So i suggest u not to use script inside the page instead call from other file...

Ok not a bad suggestion. It is being called from another script though!!!!

    it just gets included in.

The new version in about 2 months time is going to be a lot more light weight.

I also found the advice of removing the "silvertails -" branding in the title has helped a lot.

More likely is your links were devalued Google doesnt like shite links anymore...another item is at one time 'female celebrities' was not a very targeted keyword term but now you have some real competition to battle with,,,,,

    a) site structure could be improved.
b)Get more text on the page with your keywords
    c)get better quality links
d)Your links are dynamic and trigger a dynamic search query.. you can see it with the ? in your links. I would hire or search for a url rewrite script that makes friendly URLS.
e)I dont think your sites are optimized either. Your keyword you are going for is not that hard. BTW any linking you did could have effected you negatively..

    look at this site.

www.directoryrevolution.com tons of links coming in but they are HORRIBLE. so he only got a PR1

In your KW Meta - i dont see "manly sea eagles" as a Kw - you just have "manly" and "sea eagles" as seperate KWs - I see this as a definite workable area.

All your backlinks listed in google come from Forums - no related websites - Thats another reason why your links are not throwing their weight into the SERPs.

The "related:http://www.silvertails.net/" doesnt show any results - clear indication of pages not being indexed well.

I am sure you need to improve on link building for your site.

As already mentioned - try to lower the size of the page, its way too far high on loading time.

    Hope that helps !!

OK... I'll bit on this one...
    1)Your code is bloated
    2)Too much javascripting
3)Anchor text pointing to site is poor
4)Internal architecture is... well let's just say it isn't.
    5)dynamic link queries are killers
    6)Meta tag is distorted
    7)Hire a pro ;-)

I no its horrible and now the damage is done. The bad thing is that its an established domain name out of the sandbox and does rank for some less competitive words but if he really wants to work on it then its going to take a TON of quality links to pull him out of that whole.

It all depends on the competition. If your competitions has more links they will rank better

    This is not neccessarily true..

If you competitor has 1000 links that are pr 3 and no QUALITY links but all their back links are junk (spammy sites or black hat sites) then a few quality links pointing to you could put you above them in the serps

Its not just ALL about the quantity.. It literally is the Quality of the link..

If Google put a link to one of my sites on their home page you better believe I am going to get a good ranking.

Their something called expert and authoratative sites.. usually crap sites link to authoritative and not the other way around..

There are sooo many things that go into linking but if you spen a lot of time on link metro or link market you are not getting quality links.. you could possibly be hurting your rankings..

    Look here
    www.directoryrevolution.com

    the best links are
    !)relevant to your sites content
    2)one ways and NOT reciprocals
3)the site that you want to link to you should have good sites linking to it
4)the site you want linking to you shoudl NOT participate in anything black hat
5)the site you want ot link to you should rank for some of its keywords

geez the list goes on but please dont just link willy nilly

for the love of god please dont do that

quality over quantity... any seo who knows anything will tell you that.
