I live in the United States and I am trying to start a link building business but it seems like people are not willing to pay a decent amount of money here. For example, people here work for as little as 4 dollars an hour. We all know that in America, that is not enough, with rising prices. Is it possible to get at least 8-10 an hour doing this? If so, what are the secrets?
The secret lies in you have the knowledge and skill. When they think you are expert or competent in one area,it's easy for you to start your buiness. So first ascertain what you exactly want to do and then accumulate for it.
Demand of wage is subject to the quality of work that is offered, build a reputation for great work and you are able to charge your own prices. I know of people who have done this within the article writing niche and now they can charge up to 10c per word rather than the standard 2-4c used by new writers.
Actually links building is low skilled job so you will find a lot of competition. Yes but in other skilled jobs related to design and programming you will see freelancing fruitful.
I think you may be looking at it the wrong way. For a USA based contractor, why not take a couple of clients and pay for results-not pay for links. I know companies that would pay 10k or more for a first page G listing for any number of keywords. Link building is going to be rather competitive, I pay my outsourcer something like $2 an hour for blog comments and she says she is doing quite well.
Sir, I can put site on first page of google. I have examples. But nobody pay me high. I am php coder and people pay me high for this $20 an hour etc. But for link building $2-$5.
I've said it a million times already, and I'm going to say it again: focus on your product/service, become the best of the best, and people will seek your services. It takes time to get to this point though, which is why many throw in the towel along the way. But you are right. Casual freelancers are feeling the pinch, but those with an incredible product/service are doing well.
I work from home from a popular freelance site. I do earn over $10/hr but I've been working for the same company since 2000. Please feel free to PM for the freelance sites. The freelance sites list jobs in different fields on a daily basis. I do notice that there are more Indians on the freelance sites from when I first signed up in 1998.
It is even harder for those of us from Australia where our minimum wage is $17 per hour (about $19US). A high cost of living means we cannot afford to work for your low wages even if we wanted to. We just can't compete against Indian and Asian basic wages unless we can do the work 100 times better. Rowan
So true! Had never even thought about Australia as a Socialistic Country until a North American friend told me our cost of living here is ridiculous because everyone has their handout for freebies from the Government - wow - that rocked my world! BUT... service some offline businesses with your talents and you will get paid well. Interneta Marketing is a treasured skillset - you deserve to get paid accordingly.
Actually the way it works is the more the competition the much better it is. It means there is lot of market and that is why there is so much competition. I think Freelancers in USA are most talented.
It's actually very easy to find freelancing work online if you live in the US and any of the western world. In fact it can be a massive advantage, if you use it properly. Most businesses EXPECT to pay $30+ an hour for a freelancer in the U.S... You can hire people for a few dollars. The money is in you finding the clients and outsourcing it... keeping the money for being the middle man. That's how you make $100K+ a year
well I don't think it's that hard for americans it's even harder for Europeens as most time you get paid in Doller and the course is very bad for us right now ... So a Europeen Freelancer will have to make even more then a U.S guy. But don't worry you can always find customers who are willing to pay fair if you provide good quality. @JamesKPowers the problem is you still will have to find someoney cheap, providing good quality and especially the quality thing is pretty hard
Yes, the global market is definitely saturated for several services, but there are ways around this. Good marketing is the core of getting higher fees.
