Does anyone use eSyndiCat Directory Software?

I'm interested in it. Just want to know what others think about it, maybe someone that is running it..

I heard bad things about the older version but now its looking pretty slick I guess, what do you think?

It's the best directory script to date out of what is currently out there.

www.dirmania.org right? You misspelled it seems. Looks nice.

What would you say the pros and cons are?

    Worth the 75$ then?

    right I misspelled LOL.

Run PHPlink directory on two sites and eSyndiCat on two sites.

I can not tell you much about the technical aspects but I do like both the look and "feel" on the front end and admin.

eSyn seems to be a better quality product.

an0n's comments make me want to create a niche directory on that script! Is it really that good? What about available addons/mods?

Put it this way, the 'popular script' ripped off lots of things from esyndicat.

Thinking about it now, Simon was even kind enough to provide me a license to develop with.
Didn't even ask for anything in return like the 'other' person does. Begging and whatnot.

All that aside, if I had a script out, I would consider esyndicat my competition, not phpcrapd.

Is it just me or do I notice that the structure of the eSyndicat directories look similar? Its kind of easy to spot that a particular site is run on eSyndicat. How does one get rid of that "look"?

let me comment on this :) Well, it more depends on site owner to make directory look completely different. Our software can be customized and used in many ways. Here are just few examples:

    http://www.georgia-yellowpages.com/
    http://restaurant.ie/
    http://restaurantguideweb.org/
    http://www.kwika.org/

etc. You can see more in our portfolio. That look is more related to templates issue. Currently our templates serve more just to show what kind of functionality it has and how it could be customized.

Thanks for the positive feedbacks about our software ;) Yes, we have been working more than a year on the new version. Admin panel was written from scratch

I can spot a phplink directory right off the bat.
Most of the users of the ProVersion - eSyndicat, have created their own template.
The latest release of 2.3 even makes it easier to create a custom template.

Are you so sure about that? Then see if you can identify what software Directory Journal is running on.

Well I would guess phplink. Other wise you wouldn't of used that for an example. It's been customized.

As many users do with both scripts.

Did you look at the examples Simon posted?

I bought eSyndiCat last week - I installed it and configured it and then noticed that it does not support Paypal in the new version. They said it will be a plugin released this week ... so lets see.

eSyndiCat and IndexU are the most neglected directory scripts in this forum. I find most people in DP directory forum are only interested in building LINK directories and perhaps PHPLD is enough for them.

However, a directory is not meant to be a website that only collects URLs or sells links. I would say most link directories (at least most general directories) have little value nowadays and hence they don't have a bright prospect.

I've been in this forum for several years but have never thought about building a directoy that sells links. I've tried many directory scripts (including Gossamer Links, PHPLD, eSyndiCat, IndexU...) only for building some B2B or niche directories that gather product or service information. Gossamer Links used to be good (there're many great sites powered by this pricy script e.g. hotscripts.com), PHPLD is perfect for link directory fans, but eSyndiCat and IndexU have more potential to be used for B2B business directories or yellow page type sites.

eSyndiCat already supports paypal they have just postponed the release of the plugin as it needs some file change on core files. They will next week release a patch and then they will release the plugin.

I understand for people urgently needing the plugin the team at eSyndiCat are happy to install it for them. you have to understand this is a newly released version and now they are at the process of adopting all plugin.
