hi, i am affiliate marketer.. i am going to start marketing of one product.. howover, the main keyword (the keyword in which most traffic is coming) is already booked by another fellow marketer.. will it be good to take same keyword and add ( - ) in between keywords and chose it as domain and setup landing page?
HI, Yes you can do it but I suggest you to go with less competitive keyword because it would be beneficial for your SEO, by this you would have good chances to come up in SERP.
Yes you can select that domain, Before that just check your competitor that how much they popular in this field.
Can't you still have a great domain, including the keyword you want, without a hypen? If I understand your question, it's only that the domain with the main keyword by itself is taken. So add another word. But why use hyphens? I hate hyphens. This is what I mean: You want a site on widgets. Widget.com is taken. WidgetWorld.com is available. Don't use Widget-World.com if you don't have to. If WidgetWorld.com is taken, then go with WidgetDiscount.com. You get the idea. I would avoid hyphens if I could. Best success, Neil
For what it's worth, I usually select my domains based on the following criteria in order of importance. I currently have over 200 of my own, and am constantly consulting others about this in the course of my business: 1 – Primary element in the domain name (main keyword). Critical for search engines and name recognition 2 – Short. The shorter the better for remembering; no 2 ways about it. 3 – Domain extension. You’d find plenty of people to argue with me about this one, but if I just can’t have widgets.com, I think widgets.net or widgets.biz are viable options. I avoid "penalized" extensions like .info (Google penalizes the ones that are sold cheap and heavily spammed). 4 – 2nd element relevance (i.e., forexTRAINING vs. forexCARPETING) 5 – No special characters. I debate this with my business partner all the time, but I hate hyphens. He thinks they’re acceptable if the other elements above are good enough, but I tend to disagree. Hope someone finds it useful. Best success, Neil
THis is going to sound like a bit of a far out idea talking it up in here, but recently I watched the "State of the internet" adress by Frank Kern, and he does make a very valid point. Is there such thing as "our" customer? The ideaology behind this is that unlike the retail world, we dont hand out business cards, loyalty doesnt really exist when there are so many people always competing for the same niche. Again, this is open for debate, but why not try working together to further make those customers happy, share ideas with the guy who has 1st ranking, and give that a shot? I mean, if he is #1, surely you can still get #2 with a damn catchy opening line, right?
