Why PayPal ALWAYS holds my money comming from eBay. This is making me mad already.

    Hi guys,

    I want to know why PayPal keeps holding my funds no matter how big or small is the amount... Every single payment that comes from my sales on eBay is held by PayPal for up to 21 days or until the buyer leaves *positive feedback or until they can confirm the item was delivered. Which are both Bull**** because even if the buyer left positive feedback, PayPal will end up holding the money for around 15 days which is the time it takes for the shipment to arrive and the *5* days PayPal takes to confirm it was delivered or positive feedback was received (that screws the only both alternatives to get the funds faster already unless you pay 30 bucks for EXPRESS shipping).

    Facts:

    * eBay feedback: 10 (100%)
    * member on eBay and PayPal since 2007
    * PayPal verified.
    * have had only a single buyer complaint on my PayPal account. Because the envelope in which I shipped the gift card was orange (does that even give you a good excuse to complaint about?).
    *Received over 1k non-eBay payments without having my funds held.

    I don't know about you guys but this does not make any sense to me. How are we supposed to run a little dropshipping business like this? 80% of the sellers on eBay dropship (Receive payment and use that same money to pay for the item at the dropshipper). The fees for both PayPal and eBay are high enough already to think they might help you out a little. I have got to the point of thinking PayPal invest my money somehow and gets interest from it during those 21 days until they give it back to me.

    I would like to know if this has something to do with my eBay feedback. Is it too low to be *trusted???

    What do you guys think about this? are you going thru this same thing?

    Well its a normal thing cos many times people supply fake or damaged items(not talking about you) , so then first they wait for buyer feedback if the product is ok or not before releasing the payment.

    I always used to get that problem and then suddenly it stopped after I got suspended and reinstated. PayPal claimed in was to verify I was a legitimate person and sales person. Try calling them.

    Strange, I've only sold on ebay once, an almost $200 ipod, and the money landed instantly. Perhaps it has something to do with the specific country you are in?

    Holding the money for up to 21 days for whatever reason they seem fit is never the right thing. They are so many other things they can do to improve trust and safety of all parties involved, but PayPal is not interested if it is going to cost them money.

    i think itz good for u too.
    many times people uses carded GC to buy through e-bay .(i do...hehe)

    so if u get instant payment , u ship the item after few hrs money is reversed .
    but they hold the payment and ask u to ship wen u give them back the tracking code...u will get the money for ur product even if e-bay is scammed by a GC .

    becoz of their policies.

    u getting it after 21 dayz .
    bt atleast u r getting it safe .

    That's not correct. You have to ship the item in question.

    PayPal clearly states: "In a small percentage of cases where it has been determined the risk of dissatisfied buyers is higher, PayPal may delay release of the payment funds to the seller until the buyer has left a positive feedback or 21 days have passed without a dispute, claim, chargeback or reversal filed on that transaction."

    PayPal is like a wild beast. You never know what to expect from them :mad:

    Couldn't agree more with you. In fact, I think PayPal somehow uses this in their advantage. I understand they can block the money if you are a scammer trying to rip off people with fake items etc...

    But why block the money from a perfect account with 0 violations(I don't think they even cared about the colorful envelope issue I mentioned earlier...) that have been established for such a long time. I used paypal more than 200 times to send and receive payments. Why hold a payment of 30 bucks for 21 days???? If I am lucky I can eat something on my way with that much when I run away with 30 bucks...

    This just doesn't make sense. I think they use our money to invest it and take advantage of those 21 days. Cause lets be real, which buyer leaves feedback? 1 out of 50 even?? What when you ship internationally using USPS, they don't give you tracking #s unless you pay 27 for express shipping, so how can paypal know they received the item?

    Of course they are earning interest off of the money they are holding for 21 day's. Unfortunatly, they are not recognized as a bank or financial institution so they do not have to comply with the same regulations. In short unless you can get around the hold, you will find that your dropshipping business no longer is feasible.

    Furthermore, unless all of your buyers give you all 5's. Meaning: a five star rating for customer service, shipping,ect. Even if you are a PowerSeller, you 1-2 ratings of not all 5 stars can also institute the 21 day hold policy.

    There is at least one way to get around the hold, that some people have used sucessfully

    Money Market on paypal balance is just 0.07%.
    But in their (Paypal) bank, it is much higher than that. Every dollar they keep from any account, they gain a huge profit from that.
    They don't care how people doing. They only care how their money going.

    Ok so that's the story - I LITERALLY just got done reviewing an eBook that covered THIS exact scenario. I can find the thread - I'll post it in a second once I get it.

    That's crazy that the problem JUST presented itself after I 'read all about it'.
