    Hi,
For one of my wordpress blogs got a video to upload and to add it in post, so I've tried to use the ADD VIDEO button over the WYSIWYG editor. Started to upload my FLV video - but it shows me error that this is "Unknown file type".

What kind of video files can use in this case ?
Is it possible to use FLV video somehow in this way ?

The real answer depends on which version of WordPress you;re running. Is this with the regular wordpress software from wordpress.org that you have hosting for or a wordpress service like wordpress.com or another of the wordpress multiuser installs?

edit: Samelikeapig, nice how you go elsewhere to ask the question that is asked here:

    http://www.adsense-id.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29869

OK, specifically when during the process does the error appear? Before it starts uploading, during the upload, after the upload and it does it "crunching", when you try to transfer it over to a Post or where else?

Right off the bat, I'm tempted to say the webserver for your host doesn't support *.flv files. If that's correct, that would be surprising. But if it is, what I would do is make a /video subdirectory under your wordpress install, upload via ftp or through your host's hosting interface (ie CPanel, Direct Admin, etc.) and use a plugin that will embed it;s own code to get it to display.

This is the one we use on our wpmu installs. It supports *.flv files.

Look for the bit about "Generic Flash"

    Hope this helps,

I know you're looking for FLV embeds, but since 2.9 there is a pretty cool new feature which lets you paste just the URL of a video on YouTube (for example) and it automatically embeds it.

There's more info in the WP 2.9 release post: http://wordpress.org/development/2009/12/wordpress-2-9/

You need a web-based FLV player to stream FLV video on web page.
You can either use the Flash video player plugin for wordpress or use a pre-designed FLV player which can be customized.
To me, I use http://www.playerdiy.com/ . It can create customized skin FLV player with playlist for website. This is tutorial -

Write all your posts in Windows Livewriter. It has an option to embedd any video, either Youtube or Vimeo.
