Homeless Veteran w/Family

There seems to be a huge disconnect with the American system of aid. Myself and my family have fallen on desparate times since my brain tumor removal surgery was completed. Trying to get help from the govt is horrible. Me and my family live out of my car until we can find a place to live. fortunately we have been able to keep my 2 sons in school while me and wifey look for jobs at the local career center.

Please help a fellow DP'er by maybe adding a link to my Directory under the "Paid-Permanent" listing. The $4.95 will go very far in keeping gas in our car to help look for a place to live and employment.

    Thank You

You can just go down to a local social services office, They will provide help, If you post what state you are in, I will post information of the nearest social service center, They offer emergency housing, food stamps and such.

Please respond with what state , and city you are in, and I will be glad to post the information you need,

Thanks for the replies, to those who can sympathesize with my present situation.
    1. The sites in my signature were setup pre-tumor resection surgery.
    2. The only way I was able to maintain my sites while on campus is at a PC that has HTML programs on them.
    3. All of my sites and associated code is written to a jump drive that I keep around my neck.
    4. The directory should be active as of this writing.
    5. I can't afford Starbuck's or the abaility to sit in my car on a laptop (no laptop).
    6. My only way of checking email and keeping tabs on DP is by going to workforce centers and local libraries with timed access.

I'm in Florida Brew, and yes ihave been to all the county social service places and even the state agencies.

    1. County tells me and wife that since i am not legal resident, no services can be provided.

    2. State tells me and wife when we try to apply for assistance; "If you and children are living in car, I have to report you to DCF aka "we want to take your kids from you"... So we high-tailed it out of there and never went back.

This may sound very rude but it may be best to give your kids up to social services till you can get your feet on the ground. Again i know that sounds rude and very bad but look at it in the kids shoes. They will at least have a roof over their heads and a hot meal. If i was in your tough sitation thats what i would do.

Just one question you say you are a veteran but then you say you are not a legal resdient. Can you explain this? Also you may want to sell your sites and then you would get some cash. Just my 2cents

Anyways sorry to hear about this hopefully things will get better
