Does blog posting on sites have the same SEO advantage as someone putting a link in the blogroll of the specific page that you are posting on? I mean, doesn't Google treat both as the same level of importance?
How does Google distinguish between a blog post and blog roll though? Is it because blogrolls are generally in the sidebar and a blog post is in the body tags?
Well, they're both in the body tags, the blogroll and the blog post, but a blogroll is just a list of links. There's a lot of things Google doesn't tell us about their algorithms, so I'm sure they will be able to distinguish the difference. A list of links won't be worth as much as a bunch of content with links mixed in, it would be more targeted to your niche because of the keywords around it and the anchor text of the link. If they are relevant, then your link will probably get a better vote than a link in a blogroll. Hope that makes sense/helps.
There shouldnt be a difference at all. Googlebot reads img and href links, so regardless of where they are, the only thing that would affect the power of a link is the anchor text which in itself is only going to report back to google as being associated with that text. For example, a link that says "Check this link out!", Google will put it in that category, whereas something that says "SEO Optimization", this will put that link under that keyword. Get my drift?
in my opinion I think blogroll count more then a comment link or other link, blogroll seems on every page on the blog so I think google consider the link as internal link
I think there might be more value in having the link posted in the article, but you will get more links to your site by being listed in the blog roll because you get a new link everytime the site post a new article.
Yeah blogrolls are on every single page on the blog at all times as long as its live and active. But its much harder to get blogroll links and you need to give a link from your own blog in return to get one. And when you consider that then I guess they are pretty even and compliment each ther good
Not true at all. If your content is great, then some people will add you to their blogroll. Problogger.net has plenty of people adding that site into their blogroll.
For me a link inside an article is the most important. Then maybe comment links or commnetluv link comes next. Blogroll link comes close to third. The relevancy is also important so if your blog is about blogging then you have a link in a blogging article then that pretty good.
